Nebraska football used to say that about the Kansas schools, then came a bunch of coaches.
True. Nebraska FB made a string of hires of head coaches that were unproven at a P5 level after having the 2 most successful coaches in our history. However, Nebraska VB seems to have a better succession plan in place - assuming Hildebrand is the next VB head coach (and assuming Hildebrand >> Solich, by comparison).
I believe Iowa has a new coach and they have a new venue to play in so hopefully they will be more competitive in the future.
I had a really good idea you would beat us in volleyball this year. It might be the only think you beat us in.
So far Iowa has defeated Nebraska in Football, Men's Basketball, Women's basketball, Wrestling, Men's tennis, Men's indoor Track and Field, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Swimming and Diving and Women's Indoor Track and Field.
That's 9-1.

Disappointed by what I saw on TV of the Xtream Arena in Coralville. I actually hope Iowa builds a competitive volleyball team, and I thought that arena might help. But it's clearly a hockey arena, and only a fraction of the seats will actually be close to the action. Everything on the ends is way too far from the court unless they put bleachers in the end zones.
Iowa doesn't understand what a sleeping giant they have in volleyball. Think back just a few years to all the great Iowa women who came to Nebraska to play volleyball — Michaela Foecke, Kayla Banworth, Madi Kubick, to name a few. Creighton's nationally ranked team has also had several players from Iowa.
The state has the female athletes, they just seem to gravitate more to basketball than wrestling. Bond Shymansky could have done well, but then he decided to pay his star player's rent. That might work at Creighton, but not in the Big Ten.
