Have to say, getting more and more excited. I know this is just 2-a-days, but let a guy show some excitement:
  • Seeing Doc coach the players up, working on their techniques using his affable nature instead of red-faced screaming
  • Seeing Hoiberg on the court-- for players, it has got to be a thrill knowing about his experience as a player and a coach in the NBA and the things he has been through, and having him tell you something about your game has got to make a huge impression. Knowing he played with guys like Reggie Miller, Jalen Rose, and Kevin Garnet; coached Jimmy Butler, Dwyane Wade, and Derrick Rose, and now he is coaching you. Wow.
  • Haanif Cheatham looks smooth, athletic, and good with the ball
  • Shamiel Stevenson looks huge, a guy who will not be pushed around
  • Seeing lots of long streaks of made 3-pointers
  • The only negative-- Samari Curtis has quite an ugly shot with a low release point

Blending lots of new talent together will be a challenge especially when they are talented guys who are fresh off leaving a different school. I thought this quote from Hoiberg was telling:

“Our guys are really good when things are going well out there. But when the tough times hit, that’s when they have the tendency to shut down."

I do think that this staff will be up to the task. These guys have coached colorful figures in the past. They know exactly what they are getting themselves into. I just think it's a good idea for fans to temper our expectations a bit. It's going to be a rough ride-- with hopefully more highs than lows.

Keep in mind that 2 likely starters - Mack and Oudreaogo - aren't even practicing yet.

This team will be inexperienced, but they will be deep.

Chaetham is a solid starter. Hope Stevenson can play this year to provide depth. Waiting on an appeal. I expect Samari Curtis to play based on his name alone, he can also stroke it. The two big spots will be interesting as we only have 3 eligible dudes over 6’6”. Either they all play or Chaetham or Stevenson get minutes at PF. I do like Kevin Cross and hope he plays (he may have to). The team looks decent aside from being too small in my opinion. Not expecting much this season but would be nice if we can drain a few treys. I am pumped to see all new players and staff take the floor as this is pretty rare in the sport.

**Starting Lineup Prediction**
PG- Cam Mack
SG- Dachon Burke
SF- Haanif Cheatham
PF- Matej Kavas
C- Yvon Ouedraogo

Don't forget Jervay Green. Thor has also impressed Hoiberg so far.

I agree. It was a toss up for me between Burke and Green starting at the 2 guard. I do think Burke will be the backup PG as well, I just don’t know if he will rotate there from SG like Thomas Allen did occasionally or come off the bench. But Green will get a decent chunk of the scoring this season.
