Here's a piece that was in my google feed today.
You know, I really think Cal needs to find a way to get this kid. He can't send an assistant coach, he needs to handle that himself. Get him on campus.

Askew can’t be the pg next year, he's a couple years out. Go get Sallis. It would really suck to lose him to Gonzaga, who always has really good veterans to pair him with.

That's the second part of the equation. If Cal truly cares about these kids and this program, he will find a way to return everone not named Clarke, Jackson and Boston. Actually, in any other world, only Jackson should even be thinking about the NBA draft or next level.

Hell, Sarr would be in his 5th year and Mintz would be in his 6th year. Brooks would be a Junior. Wouldn’t Oscar be a junior too? Now that's what I'm talking about.

Sources Say Podcast Ep. 84: New draft rumors, recruiting updates https://kentuckysportsradio.com/bas...st-ep-84-new-draft-rumors-recruiting-updates/

They discussed his recruitment yesterday. His parents have been very concerned about the way fans have turned on the team this year and some of the things they have seen posted on social media. Even fans reaching out to Hunter snd saying things. They are still Cal fans and open to UK, but have rightly become concerned if this is the best environment for their son.

Don’t suck and nobody will complain. If you are worried about the man in the stands, it won’t be long until you sitting next to him!

You still don't trash players and the team. Losses happen. This behavior will lead players elsewhere. As will likely happen with Hunter. Also, it wasn't just referring to the losses or record.

Honestly, I would rather get Pippen Jr to transfer here than Sallis. And there is a decent amount of buzz he will leave Vandy. We seem to be a solid contender if he does.

Is there a link to this or just someone talking ?

Check post #4 in this thread. It's the link to the podcast from Jack Pilgrim and Geoghegan. They discuss returning players, recruits, those likely to leave or transfer and possible incoming transfers.

They have Boston, Jackson and Clarke as for sure gone. Sarr likely gone as well. They think Fletcher is the only one likely to transfer out. They had a direct text from one of Dontaie's people that ssid he wasn't leaving and was a wildcat for life. Thay said Dontaie trusts the process. They think we have a solid chance with Pippen Jr, CJ Frederick and potentially Brandin Podziemski. Likely wouldn't get all 3, but could add a couple of them or others.

They also go into some of the stuff with the Cade recruitmenr; Clarke almost going G league; some backstory with Fletcher from his troubles before he got here as well.

When you shoot 40-45% from 3 in HS and AAU and you are shooting 19% from 3 in college, you should know that you suck...you should expect it from the fans because they are saying it. Get your *** in gear and work and play better!

Lol, you don't think the added distance of the 3pt line and being at a different level that requires you shoot quicker might play a factor in regressing?

Your attitude is part of the problem. Congrats!

Lol, do you think they knew that the college 3 was farther? Think they might have practiced it? What about the extra year? You are making excuses. You are soft like Askew and Boston and Sarr and 3/4 of this team and that’s why they are awful this year.

I'm sure they knew, but they never had to play with with that in mind until they got here. It also takes more than a few months of practice to become consistent at something. Clearly you don't have experience enough to know.

Also, considering they weren't able to practice as early or as much this year due to covid, do you think that might compound the issue?

What extra year?

Common sense really isn't an excuse unless you aren't equipped with it. 😉

You are still making excuses. See if you can watch highlights or a game of Boston in HS and see if he was shooting 3’s inside the college 3 point line or behind. The dude was shooting 25-30 footers. You point is invalid.

The extra year older. Boston and Askew are older this year, genius.

Askew, Boston, and Hunter’s parents need to toughen up if they are upset that someone said they suck on a forum.

Soft.

Lol, again common sense isn't an excuse. But of course you would know that if you had any.

Boston was shooting all these 25 and 30 footers and making them against high school opponents? I'm shocked! Now, how consistently did this happen? How many did he take and make?

Why would being 17 vs 18 age make a difference in shooting distance? Particularly when 1 year you are required to shoot at a greater distance then any previous level?

Again, you obviously didn't listen to the podcast as that isn't really whay theh were referring to. Ignorance must be a blissful thing for you. 🤣

And what kind of loser has time in their lives to run rag on a teenager on a message board over a basketball game? You may want to get out of your mom's basement and get life.

I think, if he really cared about them, he would urge them all to return. Jackson looks ready because this entire team isn’t very good. He’s not ready for the NBA. He still needs to develop his offensive repetoire. He’s a great defender but the problem is the NBA doesn’t even play defense.

It’s not really “running rag” to say a bad player is bad. More like pointing out the obvious. Kinda like saying a red car is red. Just calling it how we see it. If the truth hurts that much he should work harder to change these perceptions. The answer to objectively correct criticism is not play the victim card like you’re doing for him, that won’t make him a better player.

Simply saying a player is bad or is playing bad isn't the issue. Continually berating players, messaging them on social media, degrading them, booing them, saying you hope they transfer, quit or get hurt, messaging their family and friends and making disparaging comments to them, saying you despise them because they have different opinions and so on are the issues.

Ridiculous. Sallis is about the best basketball decision. Nothing else matters. The best decision simply might be Gonzaga.

Fan behavior/criticism are ancillary factors.

You’ve been banned numerous times from our site, admitted you’re a UNC fan, but here you are lecturing people about common sense and getting a life. How ironic is that Leadbelly?

Lol, so boston makes a circus shot in an AAU event, without a 3pt line even on the court, and you think he should do that here consistently? 🤣

@IrishMike409 well his parents disagree, but I bet some random on a message board probably knows the truth. 🤣

So you watched the first 30 seconds, congrats! Good luck against Duke today, I’m actually rooting for your Heels.

Cal make these kids return. Forget they have a life outside Kentucky. Lock them in the Craft center and don't let them leave.

Well, he's not ready to start for an NBA team, but he has easily shown enough to be a middle of the first round pick. He has to go, he would be nuts to come back.

IMO, Boston and Clarke are nowhere near good enough, but they'll leave.

What was said about any player that was untrue?

If Hunter's parents think that they can run and hide from fan critisism, they’re dead wrong. Even at Gonzaga, he's going to get some critisism.

Okay, Gonzaga is rolling this year, everything is going their way, so there is very little critisism, cool. But if Gonzaga loses in the NCAAT, their fans are going to criticize. Welcome to sports.

Those UK fans (me included) that are critisizing Sarr, Askew and Boston, are the same fans that will fill every arena and chant your name repeatedly, but if they’re going to focus on what's going on during this historically bad season, then fine, go to Gonzaga.

It's probably the best decision for Hunter tbh, Gonzaga is a better program in the here and now and might be better for the next few years, so I don’t blame him.

But it's quite easy to prove how great the BBN is. Cal has been here 12 years, for 11 of those years, we have been extremely supportive and treated the players like Gods.

It's also the lone school he took an official visit of programs he's serious about as he took advantage of rule allowing Jr's to do so last year prior to Pandemic. Iowa State was in this prior to having a season that is going to get Steve Prohm rightfully fired. He's visited Creighton too, but not interested in them as much as Zags.

75% of the Sources Say Podcast was opinion and incorrect information.

It is interesting that we haven't heard a single bit of buzz about a pg for next year. I keep reading comments about Cal being blindsided by Hagans leaving (eyeroll) and being surprised that Cade Cunningham chose Oklahoma State (double eye roll) and that is why he had to get Askew to reclass (triple eyeroll).

I find it really hard to believe that Cal would make the same mistake again. He has to bring a dog pg in here for next year, there is no way he'll roll with Askew again.

The fact that there's been total silence on a pg for next year and all HS options appear to be going elsewhere, tells me Cal knows of a possible transfer and has let go of the rope on Sallis. Shoulder shrug.
