Hugh Freeze to Tennessee?

His buyout doesn’t have an offset clause. Malzahn would just go from filthy rich to filthier rich. It wouldn’t save Auburn a dime.

In that case, Malzahn really took Auburn to the cleaners. He must have a good agent.

Couple Freeze’s recruiting tactics with East Tennessee talent and he will get caught and fired again. You have to go nation wide at Tennessee and it will cost them both.

Yeah, Freeze needs to go to a place where signing top recruits isn't questioned. Especially schools with a local supply of top recruits, like LSU, USC, and Texas. He could really do his cheating there.

However, Freeze might be able to get away with it at Tennessee, as stealing even national recruits from other big schools might not be questioned at UT.

They do have the big stadium and history. UT had a lot of top ranked classes under Fulmer and didn't get in NCAA trouble, and UT has had several Top 10 classes since, including a #4 class as recent as 2015. As far as I know the NCAA didn't question it.

Tennessee has several roadblocks to overcome to get back to the level they think they should be at. High school football in Tennessee isn't that great overall so they have to recruit nationally. They haven't been that good for a long time. None of the kids they recruit now can remember UT being good. The biggest one though might just be a big orange pumpkin.
