Huggins arrested for DUI

We hired him off a dui, this sucks but it’s been almost 20 years since his last incident. The guy is clearly spiraling, don’t let him go out like Eddie Sutton as a bitter old drunk, give him some support if he’s receptive and try to have this story end happily.

If the average Joe would be strung up professionally for this, then why shouldn't Huggins? He already got his pass for his DUI by KSU and WVU. Sorry, he did this to himself and deserves zero leniency.

He’s not an average Joe. And even so, a DUI isn’t always a fireable offense in run of the mill jobs.

Time to go out and bring in Gregg Marshall. Been saying he should be the one to replace Huggins for years now.
So we should hire a coach that beats his players.

Wichita State forced Marshall to resign in November of 2020, just before the start of the 2020-21 season, after players told reporters from The Athletic and Stadium about incidents including Marshall striking forward Shaq Morris and choking assistant coach Kyle Lindsted.

Baker will not want to hire anyone that has anything negative in their past, especially after the last 60 days. I can see this hire being a very boring hire, leading to a steady decline over the next 3-5 years. Hope I am wrong.

I think we go interim to try and keep the transfer class, and hopefully hit big next year

Neil Brown probably thinks he is the luckiest man in Morgantown. He has survived three of four losing seasons while Huggy and Lyons were shown the door. And he is laughing all the way to the bank thanks to Shane Lyons.

Most likely will be Josh Eilert named as interim head coach. I don't know 100 percent if true. But most likely will be the easiest and cheapest way.

He is not the average Joe. So being a good basketball coach should let you be a reckless fool? Shooting a full magazine in random directions from your backyard has less of a chance of killing someone than what he did and yet just because he was lucky enough not to have done it, it's okay? I don't care how good of a coach he is and if we had the sure fire NCAA championship team this year, this is too big even for that. ****** message to anyone that if you are really good at a high paying job you should be given different consideration for such behavior. I know it happens just like drug deals and prostitution, but to openly advocate for that double standard in full public view is a problem.

Help me out. Is the transfer portal still open? I thought it had closed for basketball back in May?
Doesn't matter if it's closed. Coach retired/fired so they can leave.

It's why the AD spoke to the players about all their options and who can freely transfer and who can't.

I thought the assistant coach contracts were expiring on June 30th? Is that inaccurate information? If they are expiring, absolutely no way they hire one of. the assistants as an "interim", nor would one of them take a 1-year only contract to coach. Just wouldn't be smart on either side.

Fact is that we could be looking at hiring a relative nobody to a 4 year contract, suffer from transfer portal, and turn in to a bottom feeder in the Big 12. I hope I'm wrong.

Did the assistant coaches go drinking and driving with him? They can be hired back by request of interim coach.

Whoever the hire is the players will stay or go depending on that.

Also if they take to long to hire these guys will leave.

Per NCAA rules, “student-athletes receive an extra 30-day time period to enter the transfer portal if there is a head coaching change.”

I know they can be hired back. But my point is that none of them will take a "interim" position while they find someone to replace you, who will probably not retain you when that person gets the job and fills the staff with their people.

This hire must take place within 7-10 days.

Again, we hired him off of a dui and he went nearly 20 years without incident. It’s apparently a done deal and we are unbelievably screwed for next year and probably beyond so it’s a moot point, but the University playing the moral high ground is priceless. We were first in line to give him a second chance and it paid a dividend in the form of the best run in program history… yet somehow that same offense is not forgiveable this time around. ********.

Clean house at WVU after this year. Top to bottom. Bring back Rid Rod and Beilein to right the ship again.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at this stuff. You can’t make it up at times. Baseball team goes cold at the worst possible time, football team is looking to be crap after being stuck with Neal Brown, and our HOF basketball coach fumbles the keys to the kingdom and the program will be in shambles. Life of a WVU fan.

RR isn’t a capable FBS coach any longer and Beilein doesn’t have the motivation or mileage left to come back here.

Our options are interim or someone out of their league at this point in the hiring cycle. We’re screwed.

Bob Huggins is gone and Neal Brown is still in Morgantown. WVU is backwards from the way it should be. We are totally screwed and could use a complete house cleaning. The only thing I worry about is the powers that be would go after someone way far left even compared to Gee. I could see it happening that way.

Harsher penalties for repeat offenses are normal and expected. He was fired by Cincy for his first DUI. He got his second chance at KSU before WVU came calling. So firing seems like the minimum for a second DUI, despite all of his successes on the court.
