Unless he goes to Kentucky or the NBA, I hope he stays at Florida. He’ll never have the NIL money at Florida to be in the hunt for a title year after year. They’ll have their good years and obviously coaching and talent evaluation will help, but I doubt he’ll ever be a juggernaut unless he decides to go to a blue blood.

I actually think Davis is better than Pope. Not by much but his winning% and post season winning % is better.
And UNC didn’t mess around. 4 years after a runner up in a game they nearly won. 2 years after a 1 seed and a regular season acc title. Back to back first round losses was still all it took.
UK would never. Our atheltic department just doesn’t want it as bad as the fans do. And that’s sad because they’re pretty much stealing from us at this point.
I’m hesitant to cancel club blue and stop supporting though because when we DO go to hire another coach…that’s a selling point.
If this JMI stuff is real though…if it’s really the disadvantage that some are claiming…and we’re stuck in that deal till 2040? UK basketball will never be what it once was. Our time at the top is over.

Unless Kentucky gets an outsider completely disconnected from Mitch Barnhart as AD, I think it’s safe to say there is zero reason to continue supporting the basketball program. Why watch as the other blue bloods steal our records? If that makes me a fair weather fan, it’s better than being a cuck for a deeply corrupt athletic department.

Funny thing is, even if Pope somehow made the Sweet 16 next year but ends up with a low standing in the SEC again, boosters won’t like it. And I can’t blame them. Being embarrassed in the conference you owned for a long time is inexcusable, even when the SEC is better, we’ll always have a larger NIL package than everyone else.
I used to consider tournament success as the only thing that matters. But the last two years going 6th and 9th in the SEC is legitimately embarrassing. I can’t be the only one who thinks that. Especially to a bunch of of football schools.

Tournament success doesn’t mean sh*t unless it’s final fours.
Id rather have a top ten team and a second round exit over a 9th in the sec and a sweet 16. Sweet 16 is just 15 losers and a champ. It’s embarrassing to even count that as success at Kentucky.

The single very saddest thing in the whole universe of basketball right now is that Carolina is probably saying to themselves:
