Well..feel fine mostly
Didn’t get hopes up
Not mad really
Just a little sad and nostalgic

But far from surprised; half expected this tonight
Always nice to see a post from you Bev, you're a calming person to message with and I greatly appreciate you.
I'm so disapointed in how bad this program is right now. I started to believe, but this is yet another gut punch.
This thread is mainly for all the jokers that come out after every win and attack what I said because they think the program is just fine. It's not fine.

I feel terrible. Just want our Wildcats to be feared like it should be. Not that damn long ago, opposing squads walked into Rupp and knew that they were about to get their asses handed to them. Now teams walk in fully confident that they can walk out with a W. We are no longer THE or one of the dominant programs—just another program.

I enjoy your posts as well, my friend
And thank you
And no, our program is not fine and won’t be until there’s a change
Even the “big” wins we’ve had haven’t changed my mind.
I’m sorry for all UK fans

Gave away possession after possession in the first half, didn't care, thought we had the game won and now we just lost the 3 seed in the SEC.

Don't use Wallace's injury as an excuse, don't even try, Vanderbilt lost their best player early in the first half.

No excuses, this team was not ready to play, they were not locked in. 10 missed free throws tells you their mindset in this game.

This is too many seasons in a row where we are not a threat, too many, especially for the money this idiot makes.
What a shameless thread since you started one the other day saying we need to shoot more threes even though we had won four in a row. We did. We shot 19, hit 3 of them for 15% and lost at home. Your desperation is palpable.

But by all means, keep shoveling sh*t.

I'm just confused really. Figured after a blowout win against Auburn would continue the momentum. But then again, I've been confused by this team all season.

Edit: I know Auburn wasn't exactly a world-beating team, but neither is Vandy

This one cost us a seed line.
A few seed lines, probably from a 6 to an 8 or 9.

Also, unless we beat Arkansas, which I view as unlikely, we'll be a 4 or 5 seed in the SEC tournament, on the absolutely loaded side of the bracket (unless the unlikely scenario happens of Missouri, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt all losing in addition to us).

So, in addition to the Vandy game itself hurting our seed line, it puts us in a much less favorable position for trying to climb back to a 6 or 7. We could easily drop to a 10 if we lost to Arky and then lose our first SEC tourney game, which, frankly, I'd prefer over an 8 or 9.

That would put us at 20-12 to start the NCAA tournament. 🤮 And I really don't see us winning more than one game there. Any way you slice it, it's likely we end the season with 13 losses.🤢🤮🤬 #GoldStandard

Our first win against MSST we shot 20 3’s and won. It’s not the number of 3’s you take it’s the good 3’s you take and make. We had several good looks last night and didn’t fall. Reeves had 9 of the 19 and the way he had been shooting no one is not going to want him taking those looks. He didn’t have it last night though, it was easy to tell in his first few shots he took, all coming up short. All games are not equal, some games will be better to getting it inside and last night was one of those for Oscar which we abandoned. Probably needed Ulis to remind cal that part so guess we can blame Ulis. We have come to expect Cal to miss the obvious.

If we somehow win Saturday, it may end up being a wash (assuming Vandy keeps on beating teams as well). But I was pretty surprised we didn't start hitting some shots in the 2nd half, while allowing Vandy to hit from anywhere they wanted, circus shots and all.

As I said in the game thread, Robbins getting hurt actually HELPED Vandy as Oscar was abusing him right out of the gates. That Brown kid is a better matchup against Oscar, and proved it yet again last night. Yes, he had 4 fouls, but honestly the dude looks like a starter against Kentucky. Robbins looked slow and weak sauce.

But missing so many wide open threes was just wacky. Reeves must have dead legs suddenly because nearly all of his were short, and the last one which I felt was going in to win the game, was a damned airball.

We missed 10 free throws, guess we should stop shooting free throws aye?

Shot 16-40 from inside the arch, guess we should stop shooting two's huh?

Hiw do you focus on 3 point shooting when we were worse everywhere else and only lost by 2?

It’s weird that you're focusing on the 16 missed threes instead of the 23 missed 2 point shots.

I would much rather see Reeves take an open 3 than see Toppin take any 15 footer. I don't care if Reeves had only hit 1 for his last 10, it's a better shot.

I didn’t allow myself to get high on this team during this streak and they still let me down . I was prepared for them to lose to Arkansas not Vanderbilt

Exactly. I've maintained round of 32 at best. Honestly expect a first round loss at this point. We may lose out.

I dont even care. Until calipari leaves I know we aren't doing anything.

I'm just used to missing midranges. If you recall, I hate how many we take, and would still hate them even if we made a better clip.

The missed threes are from the guys that are supposed to be the three-point guys, so they stand out more than our dumbass direction to shoot midranges all game. Again, I just gave up complaining about living/dying by the midrange long ago with Cal teams.

Come on man. Vandy is a good team right now. It’s not like they are South Carolina.…….wait a minute…….
Vandy didn't win that game, we gave it to them. They didn't even score 70.

We bailed them out by taking really bad shots.

We missed 27 2 pointers… 27. Then we missed 10 free throws and lost by 2.

Vandy is okay, not good, okay when they have their big man, well, they didn't have him. That was a bad NIT team we lost to last night and it's the same team we smoked in Nashville.

Do you think UK wins if instead of taking 19 threes, they only take 10? What if they replace those nine threes with nine mid range twos? Do you think the outcome of the game is different?

Guarantee you the Cats win if they do that, guarantee it.

In my opinion, missed threes weren't the biggest issue. We missed 10 free throws. We missed 27 two pointers. Heck, Collins wiffed on one when he was 2' from the basket.

It would be different if we shot 50% from 2 point range, but that wasn't the case. Everyone was missing ftom everywhere.

Normally you would love seeing Reeves take open threes, but he was off last night.

Some of you guys act like we took 30 threes and are also acting like I'm saying we should have taken more. That's not what I'm saying at all.

In my opinion, you live with Reeves and CJ shoiting open threes, but you can't settle for 15 footers when you have such a big advantage in the paint.

Teams win games all the time going 3 for 20 from three point range, that's not the issue, especially when we got some of those rebounds. Where we truly lost the game was at the free throw line and not getting the ball to Oscar.

Your takes are 99% solid. This obsession with two point shots is a hole in your game, however. I agree we should have gotten the ball in to Oscar, but they were clogging the paint around him and that’s on Cal.

So, if you had your choice, what would be your order of preference with 15 seconds on the shot clock?

1) Feed Oscar in the paint
2) Javob Toppin jumper from 18'
3) Wide open Reeves three pointer
4) Oscar from 15'

I would go:
1
3

4

2

UK is ranked 218th in long range 2 point jump shots, that is a fact. 218th.

We rank 8th in the country in ling two's taken.

So, we take the 8th most most ling range 2's, but we only make enough to rank 218th in the country in makes.

That's game/set/match. Those are the numbers, it's not an opinion, it is a fact.

For all of the 'Wait Till Next Year' fans waiting on those recruits coming in:

When I see how developed current college juniors and seniors are in todays game, then I see these high school kids come in, it is very obvious to me that high school kids stand a very small chance of success. Most of these kids aren't skilled, they just have length and athletesism, which translates to NBA potential, which doesn't help you in the college game.

I know what Cal is thinking. He thinks "well, we'll lose 10 games, but we'll be ready by tournament time", but he never factors in injuries and the fact that a lot of these kids don't do well at this level. Then we get to hear his famous "they're young" crap again.

It’s still the defense. The inability to dig deep and get stops at key moments.

But when you hold a team 4 points below their average and under 70 points, you have to win that game.

A fully healthy Tennessee team allowed Vandy to score 66, UT has the #1 ranked defense in the country. We held them to 68 and that was without our best on ball defender playing most of the second half.

Now, there was a few plays at the end where our guys got shook (Livingston) and got lazy (Toppin allowed a straight line layup by a small guard), but our offense lost that game.

I don't disagree but we lost the game due to several factors. no wheeler, no wallace, lack of focus at the foul line............they lost their guy as well. so perhaps we could have lost by more. lots of ways to skin a cat. damn the pun.
