Anyway, your presumptive starting QB going into a season where it's make or break and he has thumb surgery, likely taking a couple months of on field work in the summer away. Seems like a decently big deal to me. At minimum it's suboptimal, due to the lost time.

You are making assumptions about how much time he will be off when you don’t even know what the surgery was. he threw the ball to receivers all spring, he will throw the ball to receivers at some point this summer and again in the fall. He will continue to learn the offense and be just fine by August.
