Many leaders in the Democratic Party are veering too far left and overpromising government programs that are not fiscally possible, Howard Schultz told CNBC on Tuesday.
"I think the greatest threat domestically to the country is this $21 trillion debt hanging over the cloud of America and future generations," Schultz said. "The only way we're going to get out of that is we've got to grow the economy, in my view, 4 percent or greater. And then we have to go after entitlements."

BTW, 4% sounds absolutely nutty to me. We are in Year 8 (9?) of a recovery. We have a sub 4% unemployment rate, in the first year of a massive tax cut with a massive increase in gov't spending and we are *********hoping********** for 3% growth this year.

OK the GOP president actively campaigned on never touching entitlements. He beat out 16 or so other GOP candidates. He has not changed his mind since election, he still believes in not touching entitlements. A report came out yesterday that said Medicare would run out of money 3 years sooner than expected, and within the decade and we heard NOTHING from the GOP President. Entitlements and spending are clearly not priorities for this current version of the GOP. I don't hold any illusions the Democrat voters will suddenly became fiscally competent, but the GOP isn't any better.

But yeah, I'm off the rails.

If you know the Dems aren’t any different and instead are looking to fund single payer health care, illegal alien sustainment, and free college and have the *** to make your little quips, which you know are ********, then yea, you been broke. You’re like listening to Jeff Flake, it’s comical at this point.

I’m for fiscal responsibility. I wasn’t happy with that pig of a budget. However, tearing away at the more economically viable side only emboldens the retard funny money gives me that crowd.

Our national debt ran on a surplus (zero national debt) under Andrew Jackson. We had no debt, at that time. Though it only lasted a year or so.

It seemed to me like Newt and Clinton were doing a good job of working our debt down, up until the Iraq War and W, no?

The economy was roaring and we were making some progress, we can argue about how much was real or not, until the WAR on terror started. The real nightmare for our debt was the Great Recession.

That is the Bernie Sanders plan....I have no interest in anything on that list but the single payer health care.

I think we could have and fund a type of single payer health care program,which I support, IF we got rid of some of the other nonsense.

Yea, at the expense of our military and intelligence apparatus. All good though, slick Willy cashed in on a lot of tech to the Chinese.

100% in agreement. 4% plus growth predicted for next quarter. My original prediction from git-go was 5-6% by the end of first Trump first term. Spending has got to stop growing. Stupid damned Repubs allowed Schmucker an equal social program increase to match the military spending increase this year. Trump says he will not sign another such budget like that. Gotta wait and see if he truly has those balls. What does he do at "give in or shut it down" choice?
