I saw the Dickie V thread as well as the Beth Mowins one from a while back and thought this might be helpful again. The broadcast teams at State right now do such a great job there is no reason to ever listen to a TV broadcast announcer again. Neil Price and Richard Williams were awesome last night btw...

1. Get a smartphone and download the TuneIn radio app. Mississippi State has dedicated feeds for Football, Mens Basketball, Women’s B-ball, and Baseball. Just search “Mississippi State” and the icons will appear. Click the broadcast you want to hear.

2. Connect to a Bluetooth speaker and put the speaker on the mantle under your 50” curved TV.

3. Start the TV broadcast with the sound down. You’ll notice the radio broadcast is 10-15 seconds behind the TV broadcast. Start watching the game until you see the opening tip. When one of the teams controls the tip, press pause on the TV.

4. When you hear Neal say “...and Mississippi State controls the tip...” press the play/pause button on the TV remote again. The TV broadcast will start again, but now you’ll have the rich baritone of Neil Price instead of Dick Vitale slobbering all over John Calipari’s codpiece.

From time to time the radio or tv may get out of sync, so just press pause on the one that is ahead until the other catches up.

Trust me you’ll love it. Our current broadcast teams are as good collectively as we’ve ever had and it’s so much more fun getting an MSU-centric perspective on the games.

Might be a good idea to pin this thread so folks can find it when we get crappy TV announcers for our next game.

Hope you like and Hail State.

I've done this many times and it does work well. The only issues I've had is me being a habitual channel surfer during commercial breaks which messes up the synch and transient losses in the internet radio feed that again mess up the synch. The former is easier to deal with because you can time your return to the game channel a little early and quickly resynch. The latter is not so easy as it tends to happen in the middle of action and is not predictable.

True, but still beats listening to Beth Mowins yell at you or Gary Danielson drool all over Nick Saban.

Twitter can also be an issue since it will be a little ahead of what you’re watching. No big deal though to just stay off twitter except for during the commercials and halftime.

Neil Price and Richard Williams do such a good job it’s worth a little bit of effort to sync up.

I don't think Neil Price gets enough praise. No one will ever be a Jack Cristil, but Neil does a phenomenal job.

You can also do this through Hail State Plus, there is no cost. I have done both. I have a link on my phone to the hail state plus and just go there. Did it for football as well.

Don't listen to Neil very much, but one day last fall I listened to the whiparound football coverage on the ESPNU satellite radio station. He's MUCH better than the average play by play guy.

I know opinions on this may be quite subjective, but take some time and listen to some of the other play by play and color guys in this league and come back and tell me MSU isn't fortunate to have Neil.

We are lucky to have such good color guys like Coach Williams and Wyatt. I hear Tim Priest here in Nashville and my god he is awful. Gives zero analytical perspective and shouts “money” when the vols score. Amazing he has that job.

I've done many times, especially with baseball. It's a bit difficult to sync with Jim, though, until you can hear a bat ring or a glove pop. I always have to re-sync several times due to the app, but it's still better than hearing those away game SECN+ homers.

My dream is to be able to choose audio from the tv broadcast, radio broadcast, or just the PA feed for any televised game. When people are willing to watch a game on mute, there's a problem.

This is the best way to watch baseball as well if you like Jim Ellis.

i do like Jim; however, I like a lot of our baseball announcers we usually get. I like our SEC network team for home games. Bart and Charlie are two of the best in the country. I like Kyle Peterson and Ben McDonald. i didn't care for the guys we got in either the regional or super can't remember which, but they told the same story over and over and over again. they did zero homework.

I was running errands last weekend in Gulfport and tuned into the Auburn-Iowa St game on SiriusXM. It was the Auburn broadcast team. Auburn fans need not ever criticize MSU as backwater rednecks. My God, it was like some podunk country high school radio team. "You couldn't hem him up in a ditch!" "Number nn don't take no prizners". Outright embarrassing.

Hey, good to hear and welcome to the team. I haven’t listened to a TV announcer for a State game in two of three years because our radio teams are all so good right now.
