This describes cable news. Whoever came up with the phrase "fear porn" nailed it.
The media has dumbed down and brainwashed more folks than the best Nazi propaganda could ever hope to accomplish. The other day someone posted those man-in-street videos (maybe it was you @Op2 ?) which showed grown *** adults functionally illiterate on some of the most basic current events or simple general knowledge.
I'll 100% guarantee most of them watch the main stream news media. I call them vidiots. (video idiots) The folks in that industry are a bunch of mind numbed robots too. Watching them can prove hazardous to your mental health, and intellectual development.
Perhaps you should fact-check first. Talk about how easy it is to be "manipulated".

Splitting hairs? Absolutely. But when trying to talk about being "manipulated" don't include a meme that is attempting to manipulate by using false quote. Use the actual quote instead. That's all I'm saying.
Covid was definitely used to create irrational fear in our society in order to manipulate people. The Dems used it to their advantage so they could get away with cheating to win an election. They are still using it to control the population and they'll keep it going for as long as they can or for as long as they need to.
See to the Left what you've posted here is pure nonsense. However ask one of them why if they've taken the "vaccine" is it still necessary to keep wearing that mask (which doesn't really protect them) or how it's possible to spread the virus to someone else either wearing it or being fully vaccinated? That's the reason they're all being brainwashed to keep the stupid masks on even after getting their shots correct?
They won't give you a reasonable or logical answer to that, except they've been told through the media fear porn this is what they MUST do. So you are spot on that the manipulators aren't going to easily cede this power they've discovered over the myrmidons. They're on a massive ego trip right now, and loving every minute of control they have been freely given by these sheeple.
