If I have a friend who gets blackout drunk and embarrasses him and myself each time we go out, I'm not obligated to continue to like those endeavors, or believe "it'll get better, just need to focus on being sober". A good friend would stick around and do his best to help the friend, but if over a decade of trying showed no progress, you'd lose the energy to continue. Doesn't mean you'd hate the guy, but it gets exhausting.

Nebraska football hasn't been fun to watch for a long time, maybe 2009/2010ish? It's fleeting moments of reprieve when they squeak out against obscure directional schools, then on to the next heart attack/drubbing the next week. I'm not even mad at Nebraska Football, but i'm losing interest because try as I might, I don't enjoy watching anymore.

Take before we start losing the base. There is very little to be encouraged about in the last 5 years and it is not getting better
I'm amazed by the fan base personally. Tough losses are part of it. But the ability to endure so many of these blowout/stop competing losses and come back for more is really impressive. Every team has its die hard fans, but nobody has as many die hard fans as Nebraska. One would think that something has to give at some point. Maybe it's fewer traveling to road games?
