Question, who was the dude that hosted Tunes Till Two back in the late 80’s early 90’s? What channel was it on? I can’t remember either.

I do remember the host always sounding like he was just being woken up from a deep sleep.

I installed an FM antenna at my house in Greenville back in the '70's just so I could pick up ZZQ. It was bad ***. Nothing like it now, sad to say.

The idea of calling in just hoping to get through and get the poor DJ to play the popular song yet again is a foreign concept now. They will never know the satisfaction of a perfectly timed press of the tape record button that got all the opening/closing rifs and no dialogue or commercials. Also, I guess kids these days letting Spotify or Pandora provide random content is the equivalent of playing Side B.

105.1 in Jackson Metro just went from rock music from the 80's to present to all "I don't know what you call it" There is only one rock station left in a 500k plus metro area. That's 106.7. If there is another I wish someone would post it here..

. Yeah and having to use a rotary phone and hope you get through without a busy signal. Also when you talked to the DJ is what like talking to a celebrity.

It changed around July 4th 1981. I was working as a gofer at a garage and one of the owner's sons had a friend that worked at the station. I refused to believe him when he said it was changing.

I was around. I started listening in my early teens around 1975. I had to install an FM convertor in my first truck to listen. I also remember the swap to country music. That was a bad day for MS.

Me too. I was listening to Rock 103 out of Memphis and 95 Rock out of Birmingham in the late 70's and early 80's. It helped me and my program director at FM95 in Amory come up with our own classic rock format and get the boss to sign on with it through the mid 80's.

FM95 was great back then. It seemed like the natural progression for those of us who outgrew WZBR.

David Adcock was awesome! He used to come into my parents store in Ridgeland. Big fella, but when he spoke, that voice was bigger! We used to do our David Adcock tunes till two impressions of David saying "That was some buried treasure off of Santana's Abraxas album, which will carry us into this little gem by one of my favorites, Joni Mitchell!". You had to be there. I understand David passed away in 2001. Will never forget that voice!!

I don't really remember but I do remember watching Apollo 11 and 13 on TV while it happened and I remember having to go outside and turn the antinea to pick up channel 16.

Grew up with WLS out of Chicago, an AM station back in the day. Here in Mississippi we could only pick it up at night and if the weather was good. DJ was Johnny Lujack. Great music and great memories. Those were the days. Made a business trip to Chicago when I was still a young man and had a guy drive me by the WLS radio station. Nothing but a small block building with a neon WLS sign in the window. Just crazy, as a kid living here in rural Mississippi we would listen to WSL at night and hear them talking about the weather on Lake Shore Drive or some other local info. It never occurred to me as a kid that you could actually get in a car and drive to Chicago. As far as I was concerned, they could have been on the moon. Small kid in a small world. Over the years I made countless trips to Chicago and every time I was reminded about my little world back home as a kid listening to that wonderful music of the 1960’s and early 1970’s.

I also remember Perez from the Paul Gallo Show having a segment on WJDX/WZZQ FM 102.9. He played some really good tunes too!

Did Perez move over to Rock 106.7 before joining Gallo in the Morning?

I can remember listening to David Adcock's Tunes Till Two on Z106 with my dad. Probably some of the best memories of my dad growing up, working on a car or outside on a Sunday afternoon. So much so, I made a station on Pandora called Tunes Till 2 to try to recreate some of that vibe.
