We have all seen it. The Rutgers screw. People thinking the name was Rutger. Many screaming that RU does not merit a Big Ten entry. But now. Incredible. First, escapes the 8-9 game in a year in which the 1 seeds are mighty. They draws a team from the lowly ACC who can't throw it in the ocean on a clear day. And if there is a next plays a non-battle tested team who is well coached but devoid of substantial talent. I am still stunned!

To say Clemson can’t throw it in the ocean is shear delusion.

heck...Cleveland state plays enough defense to maybe even throw a serious scare into Houston if they can shoot a few on Friday. Go ask Ohio state.

we all see the possibilities...

but one game at a time

it’s Clemson, Clemson and Clemson

time to tame a bunch of tigers ....

Agree that this is a 50-50 game and in many ways Clemson's season mirrored Rutgers. Completely respect Clemson's defense, 3 point shooting and a number of their players are very good.

That being said, this is the best matchup possible for Rutgers. Clemson is not going to over power us offensively which should allow us at worst to hang around to the end to decide the game. My concern heading into Selection Sunday was matching up with a school that has too much offensive fire power and scores upper 70s/low 80s on an off night and by accident. Clemson is not that type of team.

My comment was hyperbole based on glee. Remember. Rutgers is the only lower seed who is favored. The ACC Network itself slammed Clemson. Andy knows his stuff. Listen to his account. Anything can happen in the NCAA. This is an INCREDIBLE draw. Consider the myriad of other options.

They have 3 guys around 40% from three don’t they. Plus the guy from Fordham torched us once already.
I only remember Rutgers playing Clemson in MBB once in an NIT game at the RAC . We should have won that one but we lost and I believe in OT so I don’t discount anything. Just play your game guys.

Clemson averaged 34.59% from 3 point land, ranked 129 in the country. Yes, Simms averaged over 40%, however, team stats not at the 40% mark.

The guy from Fordham averaged approximately 8.5 points per game. He's a good PG, however, not the main guy like he was at Fordham. His game against us was in 2018, a different Rutgers team.

We also barely beat a dead Minnesota team... need to show up in a big way to win.
I don’t think that is the point though that RU72 is making. Everyone knows this will be a tough game. However, this is the best possible matchup that we could have hoped for. That is the point here. I thought for sure we would be in the 8-9 game with the winner taking on Gonzaga. We very well may lose to Clemson, but the point is we certainly didn’t get screwed on the draw.

We played them home and home in '13 and '14, with each team winning on the road, but I forgive you for forgetting about those Jordan-led years, lol.

Ok, let’s get real. We are not used to this. Several “pundits” give us a good chance to make the sweet 16. As a fan base we are used to being dismissed as being delusional. Now we are being treated as if we have a real team. Not elite, but a good team. Many of us, and I include myself, quite frankly don’t know what to do with this. It is all so new, but I love it.

don't be shocked...this is a good team when it all clicks. This is a sweet 16 team when they are all shooting well and even further with a couple lucky breaks. The question is, will they be mentally ready for it

This is why picking a bracket is very difficult. There are 5-7 teams like us every year. If good Rutgers shows up, we could win by 15 points. If bad Rutgers shows up, we could lose by 15 points. Similar sentiment round 2, but the margins change. (Ironically Clemson is another one of those teams)

Check out ruchoppins post. We only have two guys that make 3’s at a higher clip than their team average. Their guys that play a lot shoot very well for the most part.

I get this and understand the point @RU72 was trying to make and the explanation @brad1218 gave us of the OP.

It’s uncharted territory for some of us who have been around the block.

We'll have the decided advantage in the post and should have no problem getting to the rim. We don't need a slew of 3's to hang with Clemson. They average 65 points a game which is a comfortable level for a Rutgers offense to match. Clemson is not an offensive juggernaut. This should be a close, tightly defending game and nobody will run away.

Clemson looks a lot like us. Bad offense, good defense. Their offensive efficiency is slightly worse than ours so it makes sense for us to be a slight favorite. They are better than us from 3 but worse from 2.

We did lose to Clemson in the NIT in March 1999 at the RAC and I was there. In 2014 we defeated Clemson on the road in the BIG 10-ACC Challenge. Our game in 2015 was a loss to Clemson at a tournament in Las Vegas.

I think this game is pretty even and I will never take anything for granted. I just hope our guys play a good game and can come out with a win on Friday.

If Rutgers limits unforced turnovers, hits 80% of foul shots and doesn't miss bunnies and open 3s, it will be their night.

Clemson is good but beatable.

I'm cautiously optimistic

If it were Oregon or Yukon I would be very pessimistic

Clemson game is a pickem at best and to say otherwise is nuts. We lost by 20 to Nebraska.

I did pick em ...and I chose Rutgers! 😎

if Myles the monste can rebound and block / alter shots while staying out of foul trouble ; Geo hits for 10 or more pts. And has a 5:1 assist to turnover; RHJ starts shooting and gets the chords to swish (20 +) plus rebounds; JY pounds the floor steals 3+ while hitting his 15- 20; along with Paul; Tez , Caleb and big Cliff contributing:
