How important is the ISU game now

I know every game is important but some are more so then others. At this point with The Mountaineers coming off a loss against oSu. The Iowa State games importance increased by a helluva lot. I'll even say it's a must win game.

But the way ISU are playing right now I don't like the odds. This will be a extremely difficult game for The Mountaineers.

My prediction of a 8-9 win regular season is still attainable.

That's what I like about the Big 12. At least 8 of the teams can beat up on each other every week.
Oklahoma only beat winless Baylor by 8.
Oklahoma State only beat Texas Tech by 7.
TCU beat WVU by 7.
Iowa State beat Oklahoma by 7.
Texas and Kansas State played 2 OT.
Oklahoma beat Texas by 5.
WVU beat Baylor by 2.
Oklahoma State and Texas played OT.
Oklahoma beat Kansas State by 7.

Oklahoma, #5 nationally in the first playoff rankings, had 3 games it could have lost and one it did lose. Tough conference.

Even K State will be a tough matchup for West Virginia.
K State is on the road and Kansas St can run the ball. If Delton is the QB he will be tough to stop.
The guy reminds me of Brad Smith a former Mizzou QB
If you divide the conference in half. The top 5
Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, TCU, Iowa St, Texas

West Virginia is 0-2 -18 point differential

Bottom 5 West Virginia is 3-0 with a +35
Kansas St. WVU, Tech, Baylor, Kansas

5-7 12%
6-6 50%
7-5 30.0%
8-4 6.5%
9-3 1.5%

I say 7-5 or 6-6 with 6-6 being the most likely.

I wouldn't be surprised if we score big on ISU. The media is already lookin to their next game at home against OSU. Funny thing is, if we beat them like the team knows they can, the media wont talk about our win but if we lose it will be all over sports center.

WV opened last Sunday evening as a 2 to 2 1/2 point favorite against Iowa St. Saturday, (no movement thus far) interesting. Like our chances.

Pretty much a tossup. Should be an exciting game. Now if the weather will cooperate better than it did for the Oklahoma State game ...

Agree. When I saw the opening line I wanted to jump on Iowa State considering the way they have been playing. However, I've bet games long enough to know that those guys in Vegas know things that we don't. I have seen it Time After Time After Time. This is a sucker line and I wouldn't be surprised if we win by a touchdown or more.

Just like ISU's 6-2 record this season, ISU is 6-2 against the spread this year so Vegas doesn't always get it right!

ISU gave up 17 to Texas, 31 to OU, 0 to KU, 13 to Texas Tech, and 7 to TCU. That's under 14 points per game in league play. You "wouldn't be surprised if WVU scored big on ISU?" You only scored 24 points on TCU and ISU's defense is pretty darn close to the level of TCU's. I wouldn't expect more than about 3-4 scores on the Cyclones.

Point out the part of my post where I said "Vegas always gets it right."

Don't they teach reading comprehension in the corn field?

We know your defense is really good and I think by big he meant maybe 4 Td's. I just think its a feeling we get that this might be our break out game. It sets up that way with Iowa State riding high and our coaches and players pissed off how we played last week. Plus it always helps having an evening game in Morgantown, as long as the weather cooperates. Just curious how is your QB at throwing the ball when the ball is wet? Our QB didn't do too well last week in the rain.

Texas no offense
OU no defense
KU, well it's not BB
TCU - D is not the greatest they rely on turnovers. Their O well Kenny Hill sucks
The TTU to 13 that's pretty good there.

I assumed by "big" he's thinking 40+ points. ISU doesn't want to get into a shoot out with WVU. We have become a defensive minded team that just asks their offense not to turn the ball over and eat up clock on our drives to keep the high powered offenses (of the other team) off the field.

We've only had 1 game in the rain (out of the 4 games played by our current starting QB) and that was against KU. Had a weather delay in Ames for about 40 mins but barely rained after the game kicked off. Our QB, Kempt, only threw for 13 for 20 for 122 yds and 1 TD in that game. Was probably his least impressive outing. I think Kempt only played 2 1/2 quarters in that game before we put our backup in. We had lots of short fields in that game and a didn't have to put up a bunch of yards to get to 45 points.

Our running game needs to have a lot of success to win in Morgantown on Sat. WVU is 9th against the run in the Big 12 and we've struggled to run the ball in most of our conference games. We probably have the best RB in the league in David Montgomery, who breaks more tackles than about any other RB in the country, but our O line struggles at run blocking. They need to be able to open up some seams for Montgomery to run through.

ISU fans are plenty nervous about this game. I wish you would have knocked off Okie St. last weekend and this game wasn't so critical to get a win for WVU. I think this game is a race to get to 30 points. Will be surprised if the winning team scores much more than that. I'm predicting a game around 27-24 range.

With Iowa State having its best season in 15 years I'm not about to diss the Cyclones, particularly after the WVU offense collapse against Oklahoma State on a wet and cold day.

I applaud what Iowa State has done so far. I hope their fans who show up enjoy Morgantown and the Mountaineer Field atmosphere.

And I that I never again see the WVU offense have such an atrocious day.
It was so out of character for the offense, Grier and the receivers.

Now, make an old guy happy the day before his 85th birthday and beat Iowa State!!!!

As usual, I'll be there. But I'm bringing raingear and hand-warmers this time.
