Our AD should raise hell to the SEC, NCAA, and ESPN. Unfair to the players, the stadium staff and the fans. Notre Dame played at night.

I left after the 1st qtr. I didn't drink beer at all and started to get dizzy. People were all in the breezeway and concourse looking for relief. It didn't look good and it was the smart thing to leave. I won't do that again.

Or just announce Friday morning that we are moving the game until the evening per orders from the team physicians and local health professionals.

ESPN and the SEC could whine about but are they really going to take a stand against the team doctors and local public health professionals and risk a PR disaster if someone died?

Eventually some school will step up and do that and 75% of the college football world would back them up 100% because TV dictating this stuff has gotten out of hand.

Or schools will grow a pair, and play the game like big boys. The TV schedule will continue to dictate the times, and the employees of the university will continue to show up and play.

20 of our band members were sent to the hospital during the game Saturday.

A member of the Hawkeye Marching Band has died after going into cardiac arrest at Kinnick Stadium, according to the University of Iowa.

Derek Phillips a University of Iowa third-year student, collapsed shortly before halftime as the Hawkeyes took on Northern Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Phillips suffered severe brain damage due to the cardiac arrest, according to an Instagram post from his account. The post, which was attributed to Phillips' family on Sunday, Sept. 6, said they made "the heartbreaking decision" to remove him from life support.

"The entire Hawkeye Marching Band family is thinking of Derek Phillips and his loved ones," the statement said. "We are grateful to his parents for providing regular updates to the students who love Derek. This is heartbreaking for everyone who cares for him. The university is in close contact and is offering support."

The heat index reached over 100 degrees on Saturday, according to KCRG.

Yep. It's time to take back control. Having every game on the tube is nice, but the cost for that has been high. Greed is threatening to kill the goose that laid the golden egg in a variety of ways, and this is one of them. There is no good reason that game should've been kicked off prior to 7 PM given the weather conditions.

I had no idea Iowa played in Columbia, SC.

There is one reason. ESPN had other games scheduled at that time.

This upcoming game against Towson will be on either SECN+ or ESPN+ and will be an evening game. I could be wrong, but I think you would be required to stream the game if it is on + network. I believe this recent game against Kent State should have been on SECN+ or ESPN+ where the game can start in the evening. I believe with most recent media or TV contract South Carolina is required to play a couple a games each season on the + network.

Totally agree.

Eventually, there will be a school that stands up and goes against the tv time for some reason and most of the country will praise them for taking a stand and it will force tv networks to work closer with the schools to take things like early season game times into consideration.

I read a writer for one college football publication propose the first games be spread out more so they can be played in the evenings- Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, and Sunday night for at least the first games. Thought it was an idea that was worth considering.

A bit of info below on the young man with the Iowa marching band that died. This hits home hard as my son was in The Carolina Band the last two seasons. When my wife and I would attend the band pep rally before home games last year, we remember how hot those were and how some of the band members were having a hard time then, including our son. But it was 5-6 degrees hotter Saturday than it was for those games last year.

He's been texting with several band members who have told him how scared they were regarding a few members Saturday. They were texting him about the Iowa band member today too.
