How does adding USC and UCLA to the B1G affect hoops?

Titanic news....adding, in particular, one of the most storied programs EVER in UCLA to an already tough B1G slate....this is going to make for some creative scheduling now! You have to figure the West Coast teams will be scheduled concurrently to allow the team to do a west coast swing...same with them coming east....

Exciting times!

Pike should be excited!
UCLA immediatedly moves to the top four teams in preseason Big Ten rankings and adding two teams will make it more difficult for schools like Rutgers to get NCAA bids.Winning recruiting battles will become even more important because league competition will become more difficult.

I went to a UCLA/Stanford basketball game once at Pauley Pavilion when both were ranked in the top 10 (back when the Lopez brothers played for Stanford). It was an electric event, tons of celebrities, including Jack Nicholson on the crowd. Will be a great place to go and play, even if it is only every couple of years.

I think when the dust settles we aren’t one of the 40. I think NIL and lack of donors will be a huge factor……quite frankly I am OK with it.

I am in the minority (for sure!). I’d be happy back in the A10.

What does being in the A10 give you that would make you happy? Do you think A10 programs don't spend and lose significant money on infrastructure and salaries?

Those days are gone. UCLA doesn’t draw well these days. They were 27-8 last season, 15-1 at home yet only averaged 7,400 fans in a 13,000 seat arena.

Princeton got Bill Bradley and Brian Taylor
That was more than 5 decades, 25 conferences, 150 teams, and several TV networks ago, meaning it was a different era.

16 teams should be the max for a conference to remain a conference rather than being a TV contract bargaining unit.
