How do you not love this kid, now man, from Haughton, Louisiana?

I watched him lose his mama to cancer, just like I lost my mama to cancer. He did it on the largest stage and did it in a fashion I could never handle.

It never fazed his on the field performance.

He's from the same hometown as Joe Delaney, with the same mindset.

He's set more records than any Mississippi State player in my lifetime.

He has an infectious confidence that spills over not only to his teammates but, as he likes to call us, his family.

He's done more for this university athletically than anyone save Don MacGruder Scott.

And he's carried himself in a fashion that backs up what he calls us, he's carried himself as a member of our family. And he's made us all proud.

We love you Dakota, this will ALWAYS be your home.

Dak has experienced all the sadness and loss and true joy than most of us do in midlife. He overcame.There was an article somewhere discussing draft. Said NFL would turn blind eye to Tunsil and Robert nkimdichie(sp) problems and still draft them. I hope these same people realize what a class man they would be getting. Tom Brady was drafted 199 and 6 qbs. I just hope Dak gets get drafted to the right team.

I don't think it could have been put in any better words. This young man fought through loss and adversity and never let it follow him to the field. For what he did on the field, he was just as big a component off the field. He united a campus and helped put Hail State on the map. Dakota Prescott is the epitome of man among boys and will forever be missed in Starkville.
