How do they do it?

I just don't understand how Louisville continues to excel in NCAA athletics. This weekend they appeared in their 3rd Super Regional and advanced to the College World Series for the 5th time. WTH? How does a school in the Ohio Valley end up with a top 5 baseball program? How do they continue to advance?

Then you look at the football, they have a Heisman trophy QB and are one of the top teams in the ACC.

Basketball-wise I get it, they've always been good.

They invest a shitload of money into their athletics, and they don't care about the character of their coaches. If you can win, you're hired.

They hire well (so does WVU), and throw a lot of money into their programs.

But, just like everyone else...they weren't good when they had a bad coach.

Their football schedule was soft, IIRC.

They are as shady as any program out there and have tons of money to throw around for anything.

Today's NCAA

= A successful athletic program

Give me WVU'S success over Louisville anytime only because I don't feel like I need a shower after watching a game to get the slime off.

On the contrary

WVU'S formula is

Limited resources
+
Abiding by the rules
+
Battling the NCAA

= A successful athletic program

I can't speak for Cincinnati but they seem to do things the right way and have a very respectable athletic program.

Louisville is not that much better considering everything they are doing to be successful. Just imagine how bad they would be if they didn't have a win at all costs mentality.
