In our last 21 innings of weekend baseball we’ve amassed 2 runs on 5 hits. We have zero hitters in our lineup batting over .300 against left handed pitchers. Yikes.

Are the bats cold or are the players just taking selfish swings... nobody is trying to take the ball opposite field...

It’s time to stop pretending that we need to reserve judgment until this or that happens. Our bats are a big, big problem. It’s really a shame because our pitching has exceeded my expectations even if Ginn had been playing. With him out, I feel like they’re doing a really nice job keeping us in games

Problem is that where I thought the floor for our bats would be like 4th or 5th in the conference, they’re looking like the worst hitting team in the SEC

I'd rather this be the case than the other way around. Seems like bad pitching is more difficult to improve over the course of a season.

Maybe. Our guys were chasing the two lefties they faced on the low inside pitches last night and tonight, so what changed?

Tonight, the lefty started getting his pitches up in the 5th and we made some contact from the bottom of the order. Then, in the 6th, his pitches were up in the strike zone and the Top of the order did what they are supposed to do and attacked the baseball. And it just snowballed to the back end of the order and they got the top back up quickly in the 7th. And you have relief pitchers elevating fast balls trying to get ahead and the guys are ripping them.

So was it the Long Beach pitching last night and early today, or was it pitch swing selection? Either way it wasn’t patience Or impatience. It seems to be more of focus. Maybe Disneyland had em off their game yesterday.

Maybe someone took Mark Grace's advice....

"A slumpbuster is if a team's in a slump, or if you personally are in a slump, you gotta find the fatest, gnarliest, grossest chick and you just gotta lay the wood to her. And when you do that, you're just gonna have instant success. And it could also be called jumping on a grenade for the team."

Just because there appears to be some regression in the second year doesn't mean there is a problem - Joe Moorhead
