How can you bring this staff back?

Truly embarrassing on offense. They basically went into hibernation as the season went on. I guess they canceled all of the offensive meetings during the week.

The kids aren't good enough and or the staff can't coach them up. Either way, it's a staff problem. I see better offenses from 10 year olds.

WAKE UP HOBBS.

Nope, Rutgers will be Rutgers and instead of getting rid of the top dog, will get rid of assistants that will be replaced by new people who will get contracts that will need to be bought out when Ash is fired maybe in 2019.

  1. Too bad all we can do about is complain and not renew season tickets. Please all of you do not renew it’s the only way we can make a statement. Feel so bad for the kids.

This . That’s apparently the only way stubborn, bull headed Hobbs will learn.

Your Offense is only as good as your OL.

That's on Blazek.

Been here since Day 1 under Ash and he hasn't figured anything out.

OL was actually pretty good today

QB play and receivers (other than Vokolek) were the problem
Plus some of the play calling

The team is much improved over the past 4 games. The defense is night and day since Ash took control of the defense. The offense will get better under a 2nd year under McNulty.

This is somewhat true, but we absolutely need grad transfers at:

QB
WR
Maybe OL

Really don’t think offense will be any better with the current players at those 1st 2 positions

I don't think we were watching the same game.....

How many times did Gio get sacked?
How many complete whiffs did we have?
How many penalties did they commit today? (I remember 1 on RT)

That is improvement compared to what we have seen, and that was a great defense

Nebraska only scored 9 against them last week

The offense will get better? In the words of Johnny Mac - YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS. How on God’s green earth could the offense be any worse next season when the only FBS passing non-attack worse than RU is Navy?

We did get better, but they couldn't get any worse. MSU, PSU, and Wisconsin aren't close to the teams they were in the recent past. They were disinterested when they play Rutgers but still won. Today was the only game in the last four where we had a chance to win and MSU's offense is terrible.

If Gio wasn't the QB, Artur would've been sacked about 5-7 times.

We could have beaten Northwestern who just won the West along with Penn state last week. The team is getting better. Ash is a top D coordinator. He needs to keep that job like Schiano did as head coach and he needs to hire a stud recruiter.

Need to replace the D coordinator and D-Line coaches with experienced, good recruiters. I'll let ERB have one more year to fix the WRs.

I don't agree. It's game 12 and he still doesn't know what his personnel can do?

-Why is Shameen Jones a Fr. WR all 160 Lbs. of him being asked to block when we're trying to gain space from the one yard line?
-Why is Blackshear being asked to run up the gut when he was being crushed but was finding space to the outside?
-Why was Pacheco who was finding limited success up the gut being asked to do stretch plays where he had minus yards?
-How about some misdirection, MSU was over pursuing yet we run no misdirection?
-The one misdirection we used was an ill-advised pass. If you're going to call that go over the top not a mid-field pass. Pacheco hasn't read a defense in a year but now he's expected to?
-You serious can't design to have Blackshear shadow a scrambling Resigno as an outlet all game long?

I'm starting to think he'll be here to start 2020 as well. I mean, next year could be something like 3-9 which is technically "heading in the right direction".

What this means is that Rutgers needs to hire a head coach and keep Ash as Defensive Coordinator. He has failed at every other aspect of the job.

Three teams did not score 200 points this year:
UTexas San Antonio (who is till playing) scored 149
Central Michigan scored 180
Rutgers scored 162

Shea was 7-26 after 3 years
Ash is 7-29

Honestly outside of McNulty I don't think there is a coach on this staff that deserves to be brought back.

We hired the wrong Campanile brother.

We wasted one of the added coaching staff positions on Neinas instead of getting someone to help the Offense.

Okurch lucks out in finding great punters, but way too many special team gaffes over the last 3 years. Hell there was a 3-4 week span this year where Rutgers made the front page of Deadspin for idiotic special teams plays.

Blazek, not one OL in 3 years actually looked like they progressed. I get Cole played hurt for the bulk of the year but he went from NFL hopeful to just mediocre. Seymour has been Blazek's pet project and was nothing more than a scarlet clad traffic cone.

Do we even have a WR coach? Our players run sloppy routes and have hands of stone.

Neimann pretty much had his pink slip signed as soon as Ash started being more hands on with the D.

Well, here's my 2 cents for next year; 1) this Oline is not good enough for a pro style QB so either get a mobile guy who can throw or we're dead and 2) we need a big time receiver because there isn't one on this team. I like our RB's and TE's.
And our strength coach really needs to buildup these lines for next year. Coaches can teach technique but Parker is responsible for building the strength and endurance.

You bring up valid points. I agree that McNulty was far from perfect this season, but remember we have had a new o-coordinator ever year for how many years? That has had a dramatic effect on offensive recruiting and player growth on offense. McNulty needs to be given time to recruit guys for his system and to teach his system. The offense will be better next year.

Then why did we have to spend on McNulty?
And why is he heralded an offensive guru?

DM and Kill had a better offense.

Let's run some hypotheticals....how do you think DM and KIll would've done if they were given Artur and pretty much told by Ash he is going to start and is the future?

Shea's schedule did not include 4 top 10 teams in his first 2 years either.

Ash's record is bad, but need to put it into perspective when comparing against Shea.

Garrett was the best part of Terry era

Five.

Hobbs foolishly bound his cash strapped university to this unproven HC for 7 years. They won't fire the guy with anything more then two years on his contract. Ironically, he may figure it out by then. Maybe.

Shea stayed around two more years. Central Michigan just fired its coach. Draw from that what you will. (For me, nothing, but I'm pretty spent when it comes to football)

Not including Texas State, we were competitive in 3 games, semi competitive in 2 others (Penn State and Wisky) in which the outcome was never in doubt and got blown out in 6 games. We were losing 20-0 to Penn State entering the 4th quarter, so we couldn't have won. We finished 1-11. Not only is it 1-11, but a terrible 1-11 in year 3. Ash is a dud - can't recruit, can't coach, makes terrible decisions, made poor assistant coach hires, was obnoxious in gutting any tradition that we had and doesn't know the territory. The bar is so low now that some are happy when there is a competitive game. He shouldn't have been allowed on the plane back.
