How can a call be reversed?

You can’t reverse that call because the ref did not point at the arc on initial call

The refs misapplied the monitor reversal aspect of the arc

They weren’t allowed to do it

But they did, it’s clear as day if you watch replay, the baseline ref made the call and never pointed at arc

It wasn’t charge though. Dude clearly has his arms down fouling maxey, and then they go straight up again and he falls. If someone gets video of it. Either way bogus overturn. Bogus charge on Whitney too.

The one on Whitney was atrocious. The replay showed that there was NO contact! The one on Maxey was a judgement call and could go either way, but I hate seeing such a call overturned on a review in a pivotal moment in the game. Even if the call was right and they have the right to overturn it, the optics are really bad.

The defender doesn't have to be "set." That's a misconception many fans have.

It plainly was an offensive foul, but the ref screwed up the first call, apparently because he mistakenly thought the defender was inside the arc. Under the rules, you can review in that situation to see if it's inside or outside the arc. So the reversal was correct.

But it was still crappy officiating. That controversy never should've happened, as that was a clear call they shoud've gotten right without any need for review and reversal.

Thank you. A lot of people in this thread need to learn legal guarding position versus "being set". That concept died a long time ago. Reversing it was BS, but the notion you have to be set is just plain wrong.

It was a charge to be sure. And I hate to say that. Feet shuffling doesn’t matter anymore. Guy could be doing a jig from Riverdance as long as he has legal guarding position. I don’t really agree with that but it’s the rule.

Regardless. You can’t overturn a call like that (at least not yet.). I agree coaches should get a challenge just like in the NBA.

That being said, we never should have been in that position.
