Considered a conference champion. Top four seeds get byes. Must have been four or less champions in their half of the bracket.

Split conferences are certainly a cause for concern under the current system.

It is all about the money. They have got to pad their pockets more.

Byes aren't about the money. Meaningless football games are much more about the money. The purpose of the bye is to keep even more bad teams out of the playoffs.

The reason we have 1-10 football teams even in the playoffs is split conferences. Split conferences have lots to do with being about the money (and travel time for student-athletes, yes, but also money).
