How big is Sestina?

He’s big enough that the opposing team’s 4 or 5 will be guarding him. He can shoot well from deep. So big enough to open up the Lane for guards to get to the rim.
He’s 6’9 but expected to grow to 7’1 by October
All I could find is he grew from 5ft9 to 6ft4 in one year from 8th grade to freshman in high school. He had 1700+ points and 955 rebounds in high school. He gave up HS FB and BB to play BB for Bucknell.
edit: Also in 26 of 28 games had a Double Double as a Senior in HS. Of course, we know what he did at Bucknell but can't find Wingspan anywhere. Also played AAU ball on a National Level and avg. 24 and 12 for Basketball Stars of America.

He would have been a very good tight end. But he’s a basketball player. They list him at 6’9...I don’t know he might be 6’8 but he’s a big strong guy.
Everything says he’s 6’8.

He's somewhere between Johnny David and Wenyen Gabriel.
I like the look of him and he should be good off the bench as a banger plus he can move people out to the perimeter to chase him while he shoots the 3 pretty well. I still think we need Herro back and 1 more frontcourt player. Having 4 this year with injury and foul trouble was scary enough. I don't want to think of leaning on just 3. I know most think our chances are done with both, but I really hope we land Hurt or McDaniels. Would take either or both LOL. I really would like to have McDaniels.
I've seen nothing that says he is 6'8.
Everything says 6'9 245...can shoot 3 at a good clip (40 makes at 38%), makes free throws (80%), high defensive rebound rate.

LOL huh ? We are going to be a preaseason top 3 team again so not sure what you are smoking. Hagans/Maxey/Whitney/Mcdaniels /EJ with Quick/Baker/Brooks/Sestina/Richards as top 10 is at worst the 2nd or 3rd best roster in the land . There are 3 lottto picks and 3 other 1st rounders on that roster right there. Now maybe Mcdaniels doesn't come and we add a reclassifer in Dante but that will pretty much be our team next season. Which is a 35-5/ 33-7 type team and 1/2 seed .

Doesn't matter. What matters is he's an older kid who can shoot, is tough, physical and understands how to play the game
I doubt anyone here has seen Sestina play. I was in Washington for a meeting in Feb., 2018, and was taken by a friend to the American U. game against Bucknell. My friend is an American U. grad. Sestina did not start the game but I noticed him because he is big and because Bucknell ran away with the game. I am glad we got him, but expectations should be tempered. Reid Travis is a former Pac 12 player of the year. Sestina made 2nd team all conference in the Patriot League this year. Other than size, there is not a reasonable comparison to be made between Travis and Sestina. Travis is more skilled. Kentucky needs more big guys and more experience, so Sestina should help. But I do not expect Sestina to play ahead of Nick Richards, even though my expectations for Richards are not that high. Before anyone gets crazy on me, I am not saying anything bad about Sestina. But he is not Travis.
Looks 6'8"-6'9" ish to me. He does appear to have longer arms and is more athletic than Reid. Seems like a quality kid regardless.
We still have some work to do on the roster, but I’m not going to be at all surprised if he starts. Derek Willis started some. Josh Harrelson started.

Even if he’s a serviceable sixth or seventh man, I’m glad he came aboard.
Yeah and he could be that. Hard to know where the roster might lead us, but it looks right now like knock down shooters might be in short supply.
A guy like that who is also an aggressive rebounder is someone I want on the floor. But then I’m not Cal.
Well in March we had how many games at full strength? That be 2. We lost one of those to a preseason top ten team that had gelled and got the benefit of the last 9 min without a foul despite having 20 fouls when their last foul was called they were in the double bonus with over ten min left in each half, was in severe foul trouble and not one foul called vs an undersized hacking team we had had to play for the 3rd time.
I wouldn't disagree. I think he will have the opportunity to step up big time which sometimes is all a player needs. But I also read comments like UK can't throw this guy out there as a starter but he will give them solid minutes off the bench. Which is fine. He doesn't have to come in and be our savior just bag inside and rebound well and give 100% effort and he will be better than most. The effort is something that evens the playing fields. Too many kids today seem to only give it in spurts. But I do hope we get Herro back and sign one more frontcourt player.
We are definitely not a top 3 team next season. That is laughable. Let’s think realistically
Next year will amplify that If we can’t learn to score when the opposing team jams the middle, we will have serious problems. We may have some athletes, but we do not use the three point line effectively enough

Not saying that.
Slowing down play in March is not a recipe for success. Cal needs to speed up. Look at 2014.
We could have the top 5 high school players coming in and we would be too young. It would all be NEW to these guys. They are 17-18 years old. They didn't have any competition in high school, they don't know how to play hard, play physical, how to shoot because they dunked all the time. We have to teach them to shoot, defend, play hard and aggressive and share the ball. And that takes time, it is a process. But we will be alright. We will like this team. They will all be great kids. Just so we are up to bat, knocking on the door to a title. That is what really matters. It's all about the kids, making them the best they can be in the shortest amount of time possible so they can leave as quickly as possible.
