How are you gonna pull a guy with a perfect game?

I’m sure it’s the right thing to do but that was a fun 6 innings to watch.

It sucks, but I would’ve been pretty mad if we went the whole weekend without getting Sims a single inning.

When your pitcher has gone 3 innings and 62 pitches and 4 innings and 69, you pull him after 6 innings and 87 with a big lead in a relatively meaningless game. Even if he does have a perfect game going. Easy decision.

Ultimately, an individual perfect game in college doesn’t mean much. Nothing compared to a big league perfect game. Especially against a MAC school. No need to run up the pitch count that would be necessary to finish it off. You save the 110 pitch count games for a regional final type of situation.

I’m sure it’s the right thing to do but that was a fun 6 innings to watch.

Fristoe threw 87 pitches in 6 complete innings which equates to roughly ~ 110 in 9 complete.

So, you would risk his future in the sport.. early in the year ...to go longer than he's pitched before.. throw 110 pitches ...in his third ever CBB appearance of the year .... for chance at a 'maybe' no-no against a mac team?

Absolutely you pull him....

If he stays in the game and gets the perfect game its still one win. It would be extremely reckless to risk the arm of a guy who thows that well this early in the season to chase a really cool but ultimately meaningless outcome.

I don’t think you guys are getting that I know it was what needed to be done.
