How about Cam Green?

Six big time receptions, 76 yards, one TD and a 2 point conversion.

He's come a long way from being one of the most prolific NU sideline dancers. I was worried about the superback depth after Dickerson graduates. I'm less concerned now.

I agree.he is going to be a star. He catches everything and had his breakout game against Maryland when Dickerson went down

Flagle is solid. All our receivers are playing well! Love the underneath route! Really working well and CT is gettting rid of the ball much better! CT looks like a top college QB right now!

He catches everything? Hate to be a party pooper but have you been watching closely? He clearly had a nice game and is improving but his hands are still too inconsistent. He dropped a ball in OT that should have been caught and he double caught the two point conversion that was right in his hands. Had the DB been closer he would have separated him from that ball.

I agree, he still has work to do. But for a second-string superback, he sure stepped up today when it mattered most. And, it seems, he has earned Thorson's trust.

I sure think he deserves more praise than just about any of our WRs for this game, except maybe Nagel.

I feel like Green has more potential as a receiver than Dickerson but maybe not as a blocker.

Remember that Green was recruited as a WR, not a TE. So it makes sense that his hands are better the GDick, who also played DE in high school.

I think that 2 point conversion was another case of Thorsen putting too much zip on a short pass. It was a great play by Cam to contain it.

Yep, he seems to have one velocity for every pass. Needs to learn to take a little off to make short passes more catchable.

That's baloney. That is exactly how that ball should be thrown. Open receivers get covered real quick in the end zone when a QB doesn't zip the ball in there. The ball was right between the numbers. Green should catch that ball clean with no issues.

My question is, "In practice, when timing is being built up, is CT being forced to add the game time mustard?" We have a lot of short drops this year. CT puts it in with zip. The guys have to practice catching those bullets. Could it be a practice like you play problem?

It seems to be very important to you to be right all the time, so I'll bow out of this one.

Maybe they need to jack up the velocity on the tennis ball machine.......

Remember seeing C Green on the sidelines as a freshman thinking "man that is a big wide receiver" Also what has happened to his dance partner from Georgia, Reese????

I have opinions. If in your opinion QBs should lollipop throws into the end zone so our receivers don't hurt their hands, then I guess we can agree to disagree on this subject.

True. He is a little bit of a match up problem for defenses given his background as a WR. If he can solidify his hands, he is going to be a big part of our offense for years to come.

Green really became a force yesterday after his high school career was highlighted on the video board in the "local Cats segment" NU has been using this year.
Probably a coincidence but can't wait to see who gets highlighted at the Purdue game.

CT's ball placement challlenges on passes in flat were manifest at times yesterday. The throws seemed hurried to me, often low and behind receivers who needed to be led in order to make a play. I think it's all about mechanics and timing on these. He made some very good throws to the middle and into seams where he had a bit more time. Overall it was a great game for him.

Agreed. Ball placement was better yesterday but not perfect. Still several had several throws on those short crossing routes that need to be placed better if those patterns are going to yield the desired result.

Very well... but to be candid here.... your replies are coming across as overly hostile for a simple difference of opinion on a play in a stupid game. You'd think I said the world was flat or something instead of simply suggesting sometimes you don't always throw your 100 mph heater in every situation. Thank god we agree on most things political if its this difficult to disagree about football.

Your post reflects a narrative that has been building on the board this season. Thorson has been justifiably criticized for aspects of his game but throwing the ball too hard is not on of them in my opinion.

I think there are a couple examples of it during the course of the season, but not enough to call it a "problem". I just happen to think that one pass to Green on the 2 pt conversion was a harder catch to make then it might have seemed. It was short, hard and more at his facemask than his stomach. My post was meant more to stick up for Green than to knock Clayton.

In HS, he was a large WR with 4.8+ speed. I doubt he was recruited strictly to be a WR as opposed to playing TE/SB in college.
Sounds like another local recruit who decided to attend ND. Green was wise to make the switch.

Did Green emerge and become a factor for us because Dickerson was hurt in the MD game or just because he is good? Is it now that he has played well in the past three games that we are keeping him in there and do his thing? I saw Green play for Stevenson twice when he was a senior and won the stchampionship. He seemed faster than 4.8 speed to me. I think I saw him returning punts too! Regardless, I am very happy and excited to have him play for us!
