Don't know what Haith is doing. He ran about four straight plays for smith and then just ran three straight for Swanny.
Everyone else just stands around.

Birt with a ridiculous crossover and floater in the lane followed by Juice breaking 3's ankles and the lay up. Houston is gassed. We need to keep the pedal down and go at them and drive. Run run run. It will make getting the jumpers tough for them too..hard to shoot long jumpers with tired legs

Haith has not been the problem this year imo. Those bashed him for having Shaq and Curtis in late at Temple...Shaq is our leader he should and will be on the floor late, and although I don't think Curtis should play much at all, he was the one who got the offensive rebound when Shaq missed that first 1 and 1 opportunity. Shaq tried to foul DeCosey on their last possession if you watch replay, as well. We lost the Temple game by leaving the corner 3 open countless times, that's on the players

Nice 14 point win against an almost top 100 RPI team. #103 CBS Sports.

Houston hit 5 threes in the last 5 minutes of the game. Several had a hand in their face. Dotson hits one from 25 feet out.

Unbelievable how unlucky Tulsa has been against late game threes.

Temple's lucky three at the end is the difference between Tulsa being all alone in second in the AAC.

Some posters are way to hard on Haith.

Just my two cents.

GO TU!!!!

Uhhhhh yes. Birt was going to transfer here from UIC when Manning was the coach. Haith passed and then we signed him from JUCO. So we gave scholarships to Littlejohn and Dew instead of saving Birt for a third year after the transfer. This was discussed in the Alley over a year ago.

And then a lot of people bagged on Birt after we signed him.

That's on the zone that Haith had us sitting in the entire game. Shaq shouldn't have been in. He's not one of the top FT shooters. That's nothing against Shaq. It's just a fact.

So Haith "passed", then recruited and offered Birt out of juco, nonetheless he's been a good player recruited by both coaches apparently. Littlejohn was recruited/offered by Manning. Will be interesting to see how Dew drop turns out at Oregon State.

Who should have been in at the end besides Shaq? I'm guessing you're thinking Ray? Ray is shooting 65% compared to 62% by Shaq.

Only other option would have been Taplin who shoots 70% from the line, but a true freshman. Hard to blame Haith for having Shaq in when there are no better options.

Yeah. He in fact passed on a good player and blew a year of eligibility by doing so.

I thought Birt of a volume catch and shoot guy when signed who could get occasionally get hot but was nothing special. He was that player for the first half of the season. The player I saw in the court today was not the same player I saw in Juco ball or in our OOC slate. Happy to be proven wrong. He was really really good today and showed to be much more than a spot up shooter.

Littlejohn November signee. Haith hired April 2014: Birt transferred from UIC May 20, Dew signed late August. Can't fault Dew signing but instead of signing Rusic in early May Haith should have waited and offered Birt after his transfer in late May to preserve a year of eligibility.

I gotcha.

Just happy to have him now and hope he continues to progress.

Ray is (or at least was the last two seasons) our best FT shooter. He's only attempted 20 FT's this season so his sample size is really small right now. Shaq has shot 144 FT attempts so his percentage is probably closer to his actual skill level. We also know that Shaq gets in is his own head and is pretty inconsistent at the FT line late in games.

Ray has been the guy that we had close out games with FT's in the past, and he usually makes them. I guarantee you that by the end of the season Ray will be closer to 80% from the FT line and Shaq will stick somewhere in the mid 60's.

It's not just FT% overall, it's who makes them late, in close games & who struggles in the same situation. Over their careers, Ray has made them, where some others haven't.

That doesn't refute the point that Birt was coming here if we wanted him. We had at least one open spot after Lew left. Keep trying to distract from the point. You know, you could spring for a subscription to the Alley so you could have this info and not talk without all the correct information.

I've got a subscription to the alley. Point me to the thread in the alley with the information concerning Birt wanting to transfer and Haith passed on him in the few months following his hire. I'm not saying this didn't happen, I was just unaware.
