It's real hot outside, so how about some hot takes:

1. Mathis has 14 sacks and Tannor has 8
2. We have a RB go over 1000 yds
3. We average 30PPG

1. Doubtful but for a total for the team 22 would be awesome. I think #44 will get more than Tannor. Mathis I think can get to 10 if we can keep him rested and fresh.

2. Very possible for Grant. VERY possible. The highest % of the 3 by a huge margin.

3. That is also possible but I would say about a 50-50 shot at this point. A lot to get meshed and producing in the first 3 games where we could be padding the stats.

4. We will not miss a PAT

I like this a lot.

#2 might be a little bit of a stretch, just because it's such a pass happy scheme, but I like it.

If #1 and #3 are true, then we are probably on the win side of the column 70% of the time.. gets us to 8-9 wins.

Trent Hixson becomes our leading tight end. So let it be written, so let it be done.

1 of the 3 will come true. My bold take is we have a receiver and RB over 1k for the season.

I’m gonna go 100% special teams bold:
-zero missed extra points
-zero missed FG inside 40 yds
-zero shanked punts
-zero kick or punt return TDs allowed
-zero fumbles on punt/kickoff returns
-less than 3 penalties on special teams
-Top 4 in B1G touchback rate on kickoffs
-Top 3 in B1G FG made %
- 1 punt return TD
- 1 kickoff return TD
- 1 blocked punt
- 1 blocked FG
- 2 fumbles forced on special teams

Wanna flip the script?
That recipe will go a long way.

IMO, season hinges on the first game vs NW. If they win… it sets up nicely for them to make a bowl game with 6-7-8 wins. Lose and it’s going to be another long year in Lincoln.

Trey Palmer takes 2 punt returns to the house
They're going to have to do away with the "fair catch everything you can get to in order to avoid additional harm that's certain to come any time we try to return a punt" policy we have been employing for that to occur.

Even with the weak schedule (on paper) we have this year, I'm on the fence about our chances of making a bowl game. Too many new pieces to make a confident prediction.

- Smothers is a regular in the wild cat- like offense (Casey still sees well more than majority of the snaps)

- Yant leads the team in rushing

- Nelson has an elite year

We lose to NW in overtime. We lose to OU by 14. NU starts 2-2, there is some massive negativity surrounding program, sell-out streak ends, but we finish 8-4, go to a bowl game, and finish 9-4. It feels like a Pelini team all over again.

The only way we finish 9-4 after starting 2-2 is if Alberts cans Frost on October 1.
