Pack it in and make UNC shoot jumpers. You may give up some offensive rebounds but it is better than letting Brooks, Bacot, Kessler and Sharpe wear down the Ky front court.
‘Have not watched much Ky basketball but read that the half court offense is not a strength. Nonetheless you will not beat UNC in a running game. Roy’s team will give up a high percentage shot if you are patient. They will try to double the dribbler out front but make a quick pass and utilize the mismatch. Patience and not power can beat UNC. I predict Ky will have best 3 pt shooting game of the year.

This will poke the zone zealots in the CLOD. Don’t expect us to zone any. Until we stop struggling with man to man, it won’t happen.

I used to say that about a certain team in Durham but K has occasionally gone zone. One of the best things UNC players do is make a good entry pass once Bacot or Brooks has position . Trust me. You would rather Leaky Black be shooting jumpers than Brooks/Bacot shooting 2 foot shots.

“You will not beat UNC in a running game”.

Cal’s teams, even his worst ones, have actually faired pretty well against Roy when we run with them. Our teams are usually built to run but Cal insist on playing half court basketball. Typically the UNC game is the best the offense looks all year bc we are forced to open it up and play in space.

Cal is 6-3 against UNC. 1 of those being the infamous 2017 E8 screw job. Another being at UNC that wasn’t much batter where we had 5 players foul out.

I generally agree, but part of executing in transition is making the right decision on the run. Bad decisions can lead to turnovers going the other way, and that’s certainly been a problem for us this year. Hopefully our athleticism and length give us the edge there.

Both teams will want to trap because both want to run by forcing turnovers. Both teams should want to play zone. Whoever gets into their offense quicker has the advantage, at least early.

I expect UK to start hot and engaged, a bit of carry over from last week. In the 2nd half nobody knows what to expect.

Cal will play which ever way the other guy wants to - we run today but will our guys like Askew - Mintz - Jackson be scared to make plays with a screaming lunatic on the sideline yelling non stop?

Yeah, lets keep doing what hasn't worked. Maybe we'll get it down after 12 losses.

So, you advocate a church league defense over learning a solid defensive base. This is why fans have no business coaching. That said, that probably works on PlayStation. Enjoy your controllers.

You do realize literally almost all college coaches employ zone defenses at times, right? It’s called making adjustments to match up best with your opponents. I guess a basketball genius such as yourself knows better than all of those coaches. You should be making millions. LOL. Except for the fact that you’re an utter joke and embarrassment.

Most of those other teams can play man to man. Oops, sorry, you didn’t know that.

You make the dumbest comments on the internet. So, every other team in the country is good enough at man defense that they can play zone as well? That’s your argument? LOL. I thought Cal was a master at teaching man defense, yet we can’t play it? LOL. Like I said, you are a joke and everyone knows it. Just stop the mindless ********.

Cal doesn't teach a zone defense well.
