Harding gave us 4 solid innings against ND in a more hitter friendly park. ND has a much better lineup than Texas. He went 5 really good innings against Campbell, and that lineup at DNF is a scarier to me than Texas in TDA.

He is maybe our most consistent, competitive pitcher. No reason to think he can’t give us five solid ones today and keep us in the game. This is the obvious call.

ETA: And a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 innings this year away from home.

If you're trying to work through the loser's bracket, you kind of have to throw your ace again in game 4 if you both want to have him available in the finals and not have to rely on your #5 guy to get you there.

Definitely the smart move. It leaves them with the knowledge that even if they win, then they have to go through Bednar. That is what I love about it. And it is what Arky did wrong in their game. If you send your stud out there in this game (or in the 1st inning) and he gets hit, where do you go from there? If your stud is anything less than perfect then it gives the other team the juice going into game 2. This way even if they were to win, they have to figure out how to hit their daddy.
