The first INT was survivable. It was 3rd and long and we would have had to punt anyway.

The other 3 turnovers were so incredibly unforgivable, words fail me. You could literally have made every mistake under the sun aside from turning it over on those 3 plays and Nebraska still win.

Throw it in the stands and take the FG. Nope - INT and no points.

Put both hands on the ball, Grant, take a 3 yard gain and burn another 40 second; then another 40 seconds; then another. Punt and make MN go 80 yards in 3 minutes. NOPE.

Throw it away at midfield and look for a better opportunity to get the 15 yards you need for a shot at a GW FG. Nope. We throw the pick.

The mistakes we made in this game did not need to be made. We could have bungled the plays a hundred different ways and still win the game if we just don’t turn it over.
All true.. which begs the question, why would Rhule go out and get a guy from the portal that is a known turnover machine in favor of the then current accurate thrower starter and then spin it to the fans that his new guy has an NFL arm and add in all that fullback non-sense after also running off a bunch of RB talent?

The coach with the golden tongue, and all the dummies believed him.

Lighten up. Thompson was injured last year and did not want to be in an offense where the qb runs some. It’s Not like CT was so good he ended up at USC. We lost by 3 to a solid team in our first game with a new staff, new offense, new defense, played well on defense and ST. Either Sims gets better or he rides the pine. We should go bowling this year.

Couldn’t be more disappointed

At least we can all watch actual college football in the SEC rest of season

you're delusional.. we aren't going to a bowl game this year. Minnesota is not a solid team, at all. Wait till you see what happens next week.

What do you expect with mid 3*? It’s not going to change. If Minn and Iowa are our Super Bowl then we’ll win a few. We are never going to be OSU, OU, Mich, or even Wisc or PSU.
We're paying Rhule $9 million/year. For that kind of money, there had better be a significant talent infusion on the roster within the first three seasons.

Honest thoughts are it was a close game in which everyone but us homers predicted us to lose. The Gophers might be the best in the B1G West, they seem salty enough.

Another honest thought is I was hoping for 6 wins and a bowl game this year. That looks wildly optimistic after last night.

The Minnesota TD was one of the best catches I have ever seen in 40 years of watching football. That was incredible. No shame in that. The Husker secondary played very solid football for the entire game.

Turnovers kill. Especially in Q4.

Kid make a great play and QB put the ball where it needed to be (almost threw it too far).

A bowl game is highly unlikely. Minn is rebuilding and not that good. We have a turnover machine at QB, he stares down receivers horribly all the other teams we play will take note, spy him to stop his running ability and we then have no offense at all. The team has not progressed at all imo they still look for ways to lose. Who on this board when grant fumbled did not think we were done for?

I have no idea why this program has the mentality to lose that it does but Ruhle has made zero progress at this point in fixing the loser mentality until this happens bowl games are a pipe dream

The defense was a huge bright spot. You have to admit the OL looked a lot better and the running game was going pretty well against a decent defense except for the fumble. I'm highly discouraged by Sims as a throwing QB. He does not look over the field and is inaccurate.
Is Haarberg ready? Man, we just desperately need a QB that can hit receivers and some receivers that can get open.
Or to operate a running offense where the Qb is heavily involved with that as well. Sims goes down, Harrberg can come in and essentially not be any worse than Sims at executing that same game plan

The defense looked good, but they were playing against a putrid offense. And they couldn't get the stop when they needed it - just like the last couple of years.
I bet the D looks pedestrian next week against a more aggressive open O - Minny sucks and the QB is not that great. He made a few throws but he missed alot and had a deer in the headlights look. I actually think we lose big to the Buffs and that Simms does not finish the game.

All blame goes on the offense. Rhule/Satterfield easily left 10 points on the board with questionable play calling. They had it won a half dozen times.
Fully agree. You cannot have four turnovers and beat most any team. Then add two of them in the final three or so minutes. Oline once again did not look good. You can coach all you want but there is limited talent in that area. Way too much passing. Sims will not make it past three or four games without an injury if this continues. But it was the first game!

I expect better play calling when we’re holding a small lead in the 4th, I expect to not see two false starts inside the 5 yard line, and I expect to see better decision making from our QBs. For the better part of almost 2 decades Nebraska football has found a way to lose, found a way to gift wrap close games and hand them over, it gets tiring it gets disheartening! Like I said I wish I could say I was surprised on the outcome, but sadly once we fumbled the only thing that came to mind was ”Nebraska gunna Nebraska”. Until we can get mentally strong kids we will continue to do these things, the coaches can be better at teaching basics, at play calling or getting gets in a position to succeed, but at the end of the day it’s up to them to make the throw that counts, make the right reads, get separation from the DB, hold on to the ball, or make the stop on 3rd down… the D showed improvement as the game went on, the offense showed some as well, then crapped the bed when it counted… I expect better from the coaches and the players 3* or not, you’re in scholarship
