It was a bad game all-around. Both sides had a plethora of errors, but man, was this a crushing loss... I'm not scared for Colorado, but we cannot be leaning so hard into the passing game like that.

All blame goes on the offense. Rhule/Satterfield easily left 10 points on the board with questionable play calling. They had it won a half dozen times.

Honestly, I predicted a close ugly win for us, but would think there might be progress if we only lose in a slugger that takes to the final second.

Defense was physical and looks like the best D since Pelini years (or on its way at least). Offense is... A work in progress to say the least. Lots for coaches and players alike to reflect on this week. Make changes where necessary, but don't panic yet either. First game of the season, and a tough one schedule wise with a whole new regime.

Really looking for a big jump between tonight and Colorado. I expect to out physical them and keep up enough with their athletes to pull out a solid win Io be 1-1, likely 3-1 heading into Meat chicken.

GBR. Tough loss, but lots of wins that can be had remain to be played yet this season. So long as team doesn't give up, but push through this and grow. That goes for the coaching staff too, ideally.

I honestly wish I could say I was surprised on how this ended. Regardless of who our coach is NEBRAKSA football players just have an inability to close out football games… poor play calling at the end of the game as well, why pass on 1st and second down when we’ve been running so well and we had the lead mid way through the 4th… Sims is not a good QB, good running back, but not a good QB…

Just all around disappointed… still had costly penalties, o line looked horrible, receivers couldn’t get any separation. And despite all of that we had plenty of opportunities to win, we just couldn’t close it out… like usual, Nebraska football is gunna Nebraska football…

Agree with all this. What a painful loss - heartbreakingly bad and tough for the team. Day by day - kick *** in boulder!

The defense looked good, but they were playing against a putrid offense. And they couldn't get the stop when they needed it - just like the last couple of years.

After the first couple of drives I knew our secondary was going to be a serious problem.

Sims with more rushes than all RBs combined. He won’t last a full season. Maybe that’s a good thing IDK cuz he has **** for brains as a passer.

Things I liked:
-defense played well enough
-special teams looked good
-defense swarmed to the ball. Lots of gang tackling

Things the need improving
-offense is going to be straight bad this year. We cannot rely on Simms legs like that. And apparently we can’t rely on his decision making either
-clock management wasn’t great. Too many TO’s on offense and during the end of the second half, everyone was yelling take a time out. It was obvious and it lost us the game.
-Simms is not a guy that can win the game with passing
-OTs still look below average, at best

It may be a long year. Here is to hoping Rhule is able to figure it out.

Why did Satterfield call 2 straight pass plays when we seemed to be getting them on the ropes? Sims as an athlete, but stairs down his receivers. Receiver talent isn’t great as well. Better get those freshmen ready soon

If I was the coach Grant would never get a snap again. I would also bench any loser that false starts inside the 5 which would put 2 more on the bench

I do wish he could've been the guy this season and Sims learn under him until next year for his time.

Would help if we had elite receivers, or even just a Palmer or at least Toure guy. Sims would be good at Ohio State imo. Rebuild Nebraska - without getting stuck in trying to be old run the Qb into the ground guy - will be tough for him to shine. Aside from tough running - IF he can stay healthy 😬

They did though. But grant coughed up the ball just like we were all but warned in fall camp. He should probably be relegated to fourth string now at best.

This was the worst way to lose. Once again we are a meme to laugh at because we find ways to lose by one score due to self destructing in the 4th qtr.

I guess the Frank Solich curse wasn’t lifted after all . Instead Frost’s legacy lives on

No doubt. We cannot have Sims as a passer if mistakes like this are made.
He’s going to throw a lot of INTs this year. The guy stares down his first choice every time - no progression at all.

I think he’d do well in TO’s offense, but not in one that passes it more than 10 times a game.

We may be in for a long season.

Also, what’s up with putting a fumbler in that late in the game? Not a great decision by the staff.

What do you expect with mid 3*? It’s not going to change. If Minn and Iowa are our Super Bowl then we’ll win a few. We are never going to be OSU, OU, Mich, or even Wisc or PSU.

Another thought I have is that they run too many different formations. Too many different personnel groups coming on and off every other play. No wonder they have so many penalties.

He made a statement alright. That this year will look no different than the previous years.

Special Teams finally looks solid. Defense was better than expected and if we are going to run the QB that much he won't last all season.

Compared to the kids that played the majority of the game at WR, when Lloyd had the ball in his hands, he looked like a rocket in comparison speed wise.

The defense was a huge bright spot. You have to admit the OL looked a lot better and the running game was going pretty well against a decent defense except for the fumble. I'm highly discouraged by Sims as a throwing QB. He does not look over the field and is inaccurate.
Is Haarberg ready? Man, we just desperately need a QB that can hit receivers and some receivers that can get open.

I think that honor goes to Satterfield.. when people look dumb, they usually are.

The O-Line coach is probably on an even lower level.

The smartest offensive coach we have is that young kid, McGuire (sp?).

The rest of the offensive staff is garbage

The first INT was survivable. It was 3rd and long and we would have had to punt anyway.

The other 3 turnovers were so incredibly unforgivable, words fail me. You could literally have made every mistake under the sun aside from turning it over on those 3 plays and Nebraska still win.

Throw it in the stands and take the FG. Nope - INT and no points.

Put both hands on the ball, Grant, take a 3 yard gain and burn another 40 second; then another 40 seconds; then another. Punt and make MN go 80 yards in 3 minutes. NOPE.

Throw it away at midfield and look for a better opportunity to get the 15 yards you need for a shot at a GW FG. Nope. We throw the pick.

The mistakes we made in this game did not need to be made. We could have bungled the plays a hundred different ways and still win the game if we just don’t turn it over.

Sims has GOT to take care of the ball. Rhule has been known for winning turnover margins in years 2 and 3. HAVE to fix that fast.
