A reclass of Hyatt would be major. That or a grad pg for now and grab him for next year. Either way. Happy to see McConnell jump aboard. Would of been some bleak days in here if he hadnt.

This is very good to hear that we have home visits with both Mulcahy and Hyatt. We could really use both of these guys.

I have no problem with both being 2019 recruits and we need one or two Grad transfers at guard and up front to help the inexperienced team next year. Coach has the classes balanced and getting these 2 for 2019 keeps the balance going but also upgrades the roster tremendously!

Hitting on this tandem would be major haul for RU...have seen Muhcahy and would be a nice fit as we seem to be stockpiling big guards...Pikes nicely adding building blocks in the build!

Would you describe Mulcahy as a quick penetrating guard? I know he's tall but what about ball handling and the ability to drive to the hoop and take his defender?

McIntosh was a very capable shooter but a little limited to get past defenders consistently...Mulcahy can use his size to get angles and has longer arms to make plays.

I really like Mulcahy’s game. True he’s not a great shooter but he plays in attack mode and makes plays on his own and for others. He can break down defenses.

Just curious, why do I keep hearing posters wanting Hyatt to reclassify to 2018? The problem I see is a lack of balance between classes and that will be a major issue down the road.

Thats a good question. In part i think its to sustain our current progression and attract future recruits with upward trajectory. I also think its to lock him down b4 more of the big boys come knocking.

I personally would take him in either year, but thats not upto me obviously haha.

"Lack of balance between classes" is a problem the same way having too many starting pitchers is a problem in Major League Baseball. Things change, stuff happens, and what seems like a potential issue almost never actually becomes one. Say Hyatt reclassified and we wound up with:

FR: Hyatt, Mathis, McConnell, Johnson, Harper
SO: Baker, Kiss, Doucoure
JR: Thiam, Omoruyi, Carter
SR: Doorson

Plus one more, either a grad transfer or another freshman.

There'd be like a 98% likelihood that the freshman class would not end up as a five seniors in 2021. Someone could get injured and take a redshirt year, or someone could transfer out. And if nothing happens and we DO end up with those five as seniors... then I'd say 2021 should be a really good season for us.

Next years Senior class should have been: Corey Sanders, Kejuan Johnson, Justin Goode and Jonathan Laurent. I would give ZERO thought/weight to "class balance".

Worrying about a potential class balance problem 4 years down the road should be our smallest concern at this point in a rebuild - well really just a "build". There wasn't much built previously.

Class balance usually works itself out. We certainly can use Hyatt right now and Mulcahy for the class of 2019. Those two additions would make our roster look quite scary to many teams.

There is a lot less competition for Hyatt in 2018 than 2019 due to open scholarships

What happened to Goode? It looks like he playes 3 games for JUCO Broward and lit it up and has vanished from the internet

I wondered the same thing last year when I saw that. I thought perhaps he was injured but he never resurfaced.
