It's those "within the parameters of the rules " but that they don't understand. I think they truly believe that if it's done in the light of Christian charity then it's Gods work and should be applauded.

Don't get me wrong... I am glad the man has faith. But in his position, I believe his faith is misapplied. Instead of using it to bring others to Christ, he's using it to bring recruits to a state-funded public university. More than that, his job that he's getting paid millions to do should be to convince recruits of their place at Ole Miss, and not which pew they'll be sitting in at FBC Oxford.

As far as the fans go, they just can't figure out that rules apply to all schools for a reason. Then when they get a light shined on them, they cry "everyone else is doing it" and they are somehow being treated unfairly.

Trouble is with that type of fanbase personality, they will never wake up and realize their error. It will always be someone else's fault/envy/hate that brought them down... never their own actions.

This type of stuff is what infuriates me. He's trying to prop himself up by saying these types of things. In the process, what he is really doing is not propping himself up, but bringing true martyrs who suffered for their faith down to his level, a football coach who is head of a program that, at best, has cheated. But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that he invokes the name of Jesus, and thereby brings His name down to his own, if that were possible. Taking God's name in vain not only includes saying it in frustration, but it also includes using His name flippantly, especially when you use His name for your own profit.

In all seriousness, I really wish I could sit down with him for 15 minutes or more, and in a very pastoral manner, explain to him how I think he is taking God's name in vain. 😔

What Freeze has forgotten is that Jesus was unjustly persecuted and suffered because He was without sin. Not only does he drag Jesus down to him, but he is subtly lifting himself up by implicating that he is perfectly righteous. A hypocrite never sees his own sin. Freeze, and in general their whole fanbase, believe in their own righteousness and consequently don't adequately see their need of Jesus' righteousness.

I have very much anticipation for this post. I only hope for wins from the State of Mississippi college Bulldogs. The college of the Black bear brings much abhorrence in my bowels. The leader of the Black rebel bear ballfoot team has tremendous ivories that makes me feel much uncomfortable when viewing.

Put the faith issue aside. Looking at comments like this from the NCAA's perspective, this shows a total lack of contrition on the the part of Ole Miss administration to allow a coach to go public with comments like this. If the attitude is "well we didn't really do anything wrong" then the punishment needs to get their attention more.

Back to the faith issue, here is your correct answer, Hugh. "Sometimes people with good intentions do bad things. We messed up and we will work in the future to do good things in the parameters of the rules."

Actually, with tears streaming down his face ala Rev. Swaggart, he should say: " I have sinned. I thought the only way for my team to win was by cheating! I encouraged it, I looked the other way when boosters did it, I saw $ signs for both myself and the University by winning big! I used my faith to cover my sins and now I have to repent. I ask for the fans forgiveness, the worlds forgiveness and most importantly God's forgiveness. I will repent by taking what ever punishment the NCAA and the SEC hands down and I will go quietly into oblivion!"
