Q: We’ve heard a lot about negative recruiting at Ole Miss with the NCAA thing going on, what has Ole Miss said to you about that?

“Well, Coach Freeze told me when you’re that big and out there with faith in Christ, he’s like, ‘What do you expect? Jesus got nailed to the cross.’ So, he was just telling me sometimes things like that happen, but that’s never going to change how he’s going to treat his players and take care of them. Even if — I don’t know if he really did make the mistake, doing what he did or not — but I can just tell he’s a good person, great person. I know they’re looking at maybe a bowl suspension [for 2017]. I don’t know what they’re gonna do. But I don’t think that’ll affect anything as far as how he treats his players and stuff like that.”

I wonder if he's telling them this while drinking his vodka drinks out of styrofoam cups.

LOL, Well the 17er has balls. That's for sure. On a side note you may want to add the two videos I posted below to your library.

This type of stuff is what infuriates me. He's trying to prop himself up by saying these types of things. In the process, what he is really doing is not propping himself up, but bringing true martyrs who suffered for their faith down to his level, a football coach who is head of a program that, at best, has cheated. But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that he invokes the name of Jesus, and thereby brings His name down to his own, if that were possible. Taking God's name in vain not only includes saying it in frustration, but it also includes using His name flippantly, especially when you use His name for your own profit.

In all seriousness, I really wish I could sit down with him for 15 minutes or more, and in a very pastoral manner, explain to him how I think he is taking God's name in vain. 😔

He believes that taking care of these kids is doing God's work. It is great to want to help, except all the schools agree to rules to attempt to level the competitive playing field. Cheating is lying about your actions and stealing another school's advantage. There is no moral grey area there.

You're just screwing over other people to "take care" of kids that help you make millions of dollars a year. All the self-riotousness is ridiculous.

He is one disgusting person. And what makes it worse is that I know people.. A lot of people who are saying "amen" when they read that.

This is the answer to the thread about Hugh Freeze's religion and that article on Rebel Nation. He's not even selling religion, he's selling martyrdom or some delusional version of "they hate us cause they ain't us."

Freeze has managed to turn the "War on Christmas" into a recruiting advantage.

He's had this

mindset since he's been there. This is nothing new. A few of us have even said that he actually sells this to recruits, and here it is.

The guy is a major narcissist.

If this guy said that to my kid, and my kid even considered signing with this sanctimonious straight-jacket I'd kick his ***.

It explains why Richie Brown's family was so turned off by him and his comments.

I don't think his intentions were to bring Jesus' name down to his own, but to bring his name up to Jesus. Jesus name can't be brought down.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Hey tired, I would agree that he is not intending to bring the name of Christ down. I don't think he would ever intentionally do that. The problem is that whenever anyone, including myself, throws the name of Christ about in a casual manner, and especially His suffering on the cross, it somehow cheapens His sacrifice in many people's eyes (not that it actually has any real effect on His amazing sacrifice). The worst is that he seems to do it for his own gain. As a result of him using the name of Christ in a manner that he shouldn't, there will be some people who will have a tendency to shrug off who Jesus is and what He did.

That's why I am praying that a pastor or a fellow Christian close to him would confront him personally in a loving way and say "Look, you have to cut this stuff out. Remember, you are not put here to glorify yourself, but Jesus, the One who died in your place."

"Narcissistic personality disorder" my ***. I`ve run across more than my share of crooks and shysters in my life and the most devious ones I`ve encountered are the ones who have learned to use religion to help run their scams. This son of a ***** is a two bit snake oil salesman who happens to be in the coaching profession and would/has sold his sold his soul to be successful. He happens to have found a similarly motivated group of people with money to back him who also don`t give a damn about anything but the results.

Take those words and turn them into something acceptable for a college football coach to tell a recruit.

Preach I'm with ya man. My point was to say that he puts himself on a high pedestal, the same one Christ is on. That's what I got out of it. But does he really believe that? I don't know but the man has some serious issues. Hopefully someone Will do as you suggest.

Houston Nutt was just as big a false prophet. But no one minded it because even though he was out recruiting us we were beating the breaks off him under Mullen. He was even cavalier enough to admit he went right for the mamma's on visits and sold them on religion.

Put the faith issue aside. Looking at comments like this from the NCAA's perspective, this shows a total lack of contrition on the the part of Ole Miss administration to allow a coach to go public with comments like this. If the attitude is "well we didn't really do anything wrong" then the punishment needs to get their attention more.

Back to the faith issue, here is your correct answer, Hugh. "Sometimes people with good intentions do bad things. We messed up and we will work in the future to do good things in the parameters of the rules."

But these days I'm not so sure. Maybe that was initially the case. This was the kind of **** he would say, but deep in his heart of hearts, he didn't REALLY believe it. But like a lot of psychosis, the lies you tell yourself become the truth in your own head. And that is real insanity.

He already had a funeral for himself before the season...now he's gonna be crucified like Jesus?**

Honestly I sorta felt bad about calling him "Reverend Freezus Christ" but he seems to be embracing that nickname by saying crazy things and doing Crazy things.

I don't know what is more despicable: the comments Freeze made, or the outrage at the "yellow journalism" and defense of Freeze on 247 over it.

Cult mentality, indeed.
