IU did not reach out....
Dude —

Yes, they did. Goodman reported it. Doyel reported it. Osterman said you can believe Doyel.

So, Rabjohns is on his own with this one.

Is it just pride that IU fans couldn’t fathom Holtmann maybe not being interested?

I don't think you realize how overrated the lure of the UK head coaching gig is. Getting rid of Cal isn't going to automatically bring the Pitino-era success back. Keep in mind who is going to be doing the hiring. Calipari was a great hire. Stoops seems to be a good hire as well (I don't really keep up with football). However, we've all witnessed the dumbassery of Mitch Barnhart.

The bolded is the one thing that really terrifies me about having to replace Cal. I do not trust Mitch at all to make a good decision let alone a sales pitch to a top coaching candidate.

That is exactly what you said. Whether you intended to or not I can't answer, but it is what it is.

Again, there you are doing it again. Why would I have been banned before? Is having an opinion ban worthy. The fact you immediately jump to being banned in the past, present or future insinuates it's a penalty you think should be utilized. It's literally what you are thinking about.

You're seriously attacking someone else's reading comprehension when you can't even comprehend what you wrote? 🤔

I can see I have struck a nerve; not only with my opinion, but also with my subsequent posts. Wonder why that is?

Any how, you have a good evening with all that.
Keep posting troll. Anyone on here can read exactly what I said and can see you for exactly what you are.

This will be unpopular here, but if we lose Cal anytime soon, this is similar to what our search will resemble. Getting rejected by the top choices, then getting rejected by someone who has never been past a sw 16, and only made it to 1 of those (Holtman), then being embarrassed and having to settle for a Chris Beard type coach. Not to mention the entire roster will leave with him.
No sure I agree 100%.. BIG difference between turning down IU and turning down UK... and I would suspect that most AD's already have someone "in the pipeline" for their coaches successor... But there is going to be a lot of Blue Blood churn the next 5 years, with K at Duke, Williams at UNC, and possibly Self at Kansas. And the landscape has changed.... you can be a successful coach at places like Gonzaga, Baylor and other places, with a lot less stress. Basically every major team has their games televised.

Having to "settle" for a Beard or Holtmann wouldn't be terrible. Both are young and hungry to win. Either would crawl to Lexington for the job.
Even if Calipari stays, next year's team will be marginal as well.
isn't that the quote from BCG?
Also remember the pitino hire? he was way down the list and CM tried to talk him into not accepting it.
We will not get the guy we want, we will settle and we will suck for another 1-3 years and this board will explode....our expectations have created a monster
JMO...bash away

Well Leadbelly I’m glad to know you don’t hate me. Lol
Who in their right mind would hate or even really dislike someone on an anonymous message board about basketball? This message board clearly takes up an unhealthy amount of time and emotion in some people's lives.

Sure! Not sure if you realize, but making a new account takes a total of 10 seconds. In the 6 days I have been using it I have 39 posts, including this one. Not sure that would constitute much time to a normal person....

Also, not sure how simply posting correlates to an emotional tie. Perhaps you can solve that little paradox for us?
That’s the point, you shouldn’t be making an account on here to begin with. What about being banned don’t you understand? I know it’s hard for you to grasp that concept.

It's a total rebuild job, they've got to get someone who can recruit like hell. That fanbase and boosters are so starved they'll have the support. But it's not a turnkey situation at this point for sure.

Actually, it was Eddie Sutton who said it first.
You seem to know what the future holds...so, can I get those Powerball numbers now or what?

Donovan, Barnes, and Jay Wright have all said no before. That was when Jay Wright only had one Final Four to his name. I don't know where the "can get anyone they want" perception comes from.
Come on man. You really going to cite the Barnes withdrawing his name from consideration incident in support of your argument?

Maybe IU should target the Joel Justus of Michigan State's program, Dane Fife! There is about to be a mass exodus of Spartans hitting the portal and Fife is an IU alum/grad when they last played for National Championship. Or do they want to avoid the "Izzo tree" after it gifted them Creepy Tom Crean?
I smoked a joint with Dane's brother, Dugan, on UM's campus in 94.
