Did anyone on the board realize that Hobbs was opening the redshirt loophole by firing Ash after 4 games? The stupidity is embarrassing.
Well this is the 37th time that’s been mentioned this week. Did this just dawn on you?
This is why our fan base doesn't deserve good things.
The 37th time it's been mentioned since the Sit announcement on Thursday. Had not been mentioned prior. The collective hindsight of this board is crystal clear.Well this is the 37th time that’s been mentioned this week. Did this just dawn on you?
No way!!!!!Did anyone on the board realize that Hobbs was opening the redshirt loophole by firing Ash after 4 games? The stupidity is embarrassing.

I think RU paved the way in showing when not to fire a coach. Lesson is Do it after your starters have played 4 games. Hindsight but you're welcome college football.
I do think you will see very very few coaches fired so early in the season until redshirt/portal rules change......... It will be called The Ash Rule
Tennessee just benched Jarrett Guarantano for a freshman QB in the 5th game. JG got 4th quarter mop up time to insure that he is still committed to UT.
Apparently RU FB has not yet embraced the new redshirt rule?

Actually I did not. I doubt many on here even thought of it. In retrospect should have put up with 1 more week of fire Ash before firing him. As an ex-athlete, I would not be happy with either one's decision and would not be happy if they are allowed to stay in the locker room. Blacksheer definitely needs C removed.Did anyone on the board realize that Hobbs was opening the redshirt loophole by firing Ash after 4 games? The stupidity is embarrassing.
Blacksheer will be declaring for the draft at the end of the season. There was not thinking about preserving eligibility for the betterment of the teams the next two years. As much as I don't like the fundamental concept of a player unilaterally choosing to sit out, I don't disagree with Blackshear's decision given the circumstance - especially if the intent is to try to make the team better by preserving a year of eligibility with the new coach. BUT, and this is a huge BUT, the manner in which he made and conveyed that decision was truly awful and sabotaging to the team.
If you can't make that decision before the last practice of game week, it's too late, imo. You missed your window to give your team a chance to adapt to your decision, and are just throwing them under the bus by basically tearing up their playbook an hour before kickoff. I mean, how can you even practice with the first team and watch a game plan be designed to get you the ball, limiting the reps of the guys behind you.... all while knowing there was a good chance you wouldn't be taking those snaps on game day and not at least communicating that possibility to your coaches.
Overall, Blackshear's intent may not have been bad, but his execution was piss poor.
Smarter to give the students a choice to leave.
You can't trap kids. In this instance, Hobbs did the right and smart thing.
Terrell Willis .... how did that work out?Blacksheer will be declaring for the draft at the end of the season. There was not thinking about preserving eligibility for the betterment of the teams the next two years.
How does what a previous play has done impact the decision of a current player?Terrell Willis .... how did that work out?

Actually, I have not heard that attributed to Blacksheer's camp. That is just my read on the situation. If that's the case, I have no idea who's telling him they think he'll go on the first two nights of the draft. Haven't heard anything definitive there, so I'm chalking that one up to speculation/rumor for now.
Sitkowski was already considering redshirting. Blackshear is looking out for his future. Call it him being selfish or being a quitter is asinine. With an NFL future before him if he was my son I would not jeopardize him getting hurt with all the uncertainty surrounding the program. The fact it was a game time decision shows it was not an easy decision for him.
Firing the coach at this juncture of the season creates so much uncertainty. The problem is that RU should have fired Ash last year, but they didnt. Now they fire Ash which was the wishes of the majority of the fan base and these players are forced to make decisions regarding their futures with a lot of uncertainty not knowing who the next coach will be. With the rules available Stokowski and Blackshear decided to utilize that rule to understand their options and now so-called adults have a meltdown that these kids are not loyal to the University and should have their scholarship pulled. How about looking at it from their perspective that the Athletic leadership screwed them by totalling mishandling the the Ash situation and creating more distrust that the next major football decision will be a screw up too! Leave the kids alone and directed at the correct culprits Hobbs and the BOA!

You don't think there are people in his ear telling him he is going to be a draft pick? And MAYBE gets a chance as an UFA. Long shot for him at best. He's not Reggie Bush.
