I haven't seen anyone claim the 150th anniversary is being handled successfully. Who's fault is that botch job?

I have talked about this before. In my most humble of opinions this is a 10 year “epic fail.” Absolutely nobody in charge has done anything right during this period of time, to get ready for this, so laying it all on Hobbs is just for people who want to lay it on Hobbs. There should’ve been a countdown, there should’ve been things going on every year for the last 10 years, and the plan for this year should’ve been rock solid when we join the Big Ten. We should’ve locked it in that we would be playing Michigan, at home, for the 150th anniversary game no ifs, ands, or buts.

You can’t be the best AD ever when you are responsible for a total and complete dumpster fire with the once proud football program.

The team was 1-11 last year with blowout losses to Kansas and Buffalo and now an underdog at home to Liberty. It is so sad how far this program has fallen and he is responsible for for all of it.
True story!

Hobbs said decision was made on plane from Michigan. I think Hobbs sucks as far as a football AD, but I am not going to label him a liar and not on the up and up .
What are the Iowa rumors ?
I never said he was a liar. I thought it was reported that Ash was basically fired after the Iowa game but it wasn't official until after Michigan? Regardless, it was dumb to bring Ash back.

Hobbs is a joke & a typical politician. Think about it, he was the Seton Hall AD lol. Christie recommended this clown & Urban convinced Hobbs to hire ASH lol. If Rutgers wasn't so cheap after some success we would not be in this predicament. Top 25 team every year if Schiano was given what he needed after 2006. Would have made us alot of money for investing in Schiano. He was tired of the political BS that runs this school & therefore left. We were really close to something special & just threw it all away. God forbid NJ has a great college football team
It's been detailed quite a few times that Christie did NOT recommend Hobbs for the job. But go on with your false narrative if it makes you feel better.

similarly, Hobbs saying he needs the next couple months to find the right coach.. he should have been working on that for a YEAR by now.

Hindsight is alway 20/20.. but in retrospect the blunders were (in order of impact):

1) Extending Ash 2 years in based on a hopeful, but still underwhelming, 4-8 record highlighted by a 2 point win over a average Purdue.

2) Rushing to hire Ash in the first place. I had no issue hiring a National Championship DC from a conference foe. But, in hindsight - I can't understand how Ashy was "a great interview" and all the little things (from wearing a tOSU-red tie at his intro. presser, to clear unconcern for any RUFB history, etc... made it clear crAsh was never the right choice..

3) Timing on the firing.... week 5 and getting rid of McNulty too? I'll never understand. I don't think anyone really considered the redshirt issues that we've seen (but EVERY OTHER team in NCAAF now surely will)... but, that has had an impact.. I love Nunz.. but, I still don't get why JM had to go.........

This statement is sheer lunacy.

Former season-ticket holder, Long-time reader and long-absent poster but here are my 2 cents. Hobbs blundered the hire in 2015 and made matters worse by blundering the 2019 firing. By not firing Ash at the end of 2018 his only real choice was to play out 2019 where the possibility of 2-11 or 3-10 now feels almost respectable. Instead, he miscalculates and 4 weeks hence has made RU the laughingstock of college football on its150th anniversary no less. And a 7 pt dog to Liberty of all teams to boot. All his fund-raising and good hires in bball and other sports will not earned him enough capital to survive. His margin of error is so thin that I'm not sure any candidate so far mentioned can bail him out with the exception of Greg Schiano. Joe Moorhead? Please.

Don’t forget the Yankee Stadium fiasco.
And cowarding out of the UCLA series.
Hobbs has been a football Knightmare.

it was ASH that didn't want the UCLA series,

Have no problem with Yankee Stadium game...other schools can play at neutral fields so embrace it...

im sure somewhere down the line Chris had an input
Don't be so sure. Look it up. It gets tiresome trying to set the record straight with what actually happened. Some of you guys need to take a break from your little tantrums. If you don't behave, no Lo Bro or party favors on your birthday. @mildone was going to bring the hookers and blow.

Nah, that's probably Eddie Jordan, especially when you consider they fired Gary Waters for that succession of losers and a lunatic.

You probably can’t see this...but Rutgers didn’t fire waters . He resigned . He also hired Fred hill to his staff . People say he was forced to hire hill, but yet no one has ever produced any evidence of that.

EMBRACE IT? yeah, sure.. you go ahead and do that.

As for Ash not wanting to play the teams we are scheduled to play.. THAT should have been a sign to fire him right there. Also seems he did not want to go recruit at NJ high schools... but, sure, whatever he wanted was fine with the AD (and his agent).

Also.. on Gary Waters... some exciting games during his tenure.. still no NCAA Tourney.. and he promised the full court press and run and gun game.. never delivered on that.
