The new fake grass fields do lead to increase stresses on the ligaments of the knee and ankle, but that was a fracture that should not have happened to healthy bone. I would not be surprised to find out that he had a stress fracture or maybe a tumor (enchondroma or such).

Only hope that he has no vascular or nerve injury. The nerves are not very well protected in the lower leg.

And if that thing is open then it needs to be fixed there in Oxford, not transported all the way back to Columbus. Any idiot can nail a tibia.
