Duggar was awesome when I lived there. I think the hall director lived off campus with his girlfriend and the RAs didn't care of you drank in the dorm so long as you saved a drink for them. Hightower, on the other hand, was locked down. The hall director was hated and some people put a huge snowball behind her car when we had the big snow in 2000.

Hightower was fine, but Smith (no roommates) was the hidden gem.

Duggar.
3rd Floor North.
Fall 1991-Spring 1992.
Good times, man.

I lived 3rd floor North Fall 1986-Spring 1987. I think Duggar gave me athlete's foot my first semester.

Didn't realize they hadn't torn down Duggar in 1991.

HIGHtower '99.

Went grocery shopping after moving in. Went grocery shopping the next day to replace the bread the rats ate and get some poison to take care of them.

R.I.P. Suttle Hall, 6th floor 1 yr alum here. Wish I had gotten a brick when they imploded it. Had a good RA as long as you didnt act a fool and gave him a beer in a cup when he wanted it all was well

Duggar first year (1979-1980). Was hall VP second semester. Still in pretty good shape then. Suttle room 204 from 1980-1984. Was place to crash when not in the Reflector office or at a game.

6, 3, 4 here. first RA seemed nice, but some items disappeared from our room on his "final" check before thanksgiving break. the last two RAs were uneventful. I found out suttle was gone by getting myself lost looking for it "around the corner". rofl.

I lived in Duggar the last year that it had residents, 02-03. The next year it was closed (we joked that it had been condemned) and then it was torn down to make way for Ruby in fall 04, I think it was. We had fun. The east wing was freshman boys and the west wing was international students.

I recently learned from an older MSU alum that when Duggar opened of course there weren't any stalls in the shower rooms but there also weren't any stalls in the bathrooms either.

Yep. The rumor was that those were some research pigs and there would all sorts of felony charges. And when the guy stabbed his room mate. And when the RA got fired when he went crashing through the window downstairs after shooting Jager. Also chased two possums out of the laundry room downstairs.

That place was a ********. And the walk up the Harned Hill didn't make it a very desirable location.

I was such a glutton I served three terms in Sessums. One as a freshman, two more as an RA. Good times.

Hightower 77-78. We gave ole Jimmy Abram heart attacks. Floors had six inches of wax. Dumped flour down the halls. Get a running start through the double doors and you could swan dive aand slide damn near the length of the halls

Lived in Sessums my freshman year ('90). It was a Greek-heavy freshman guys' dorm, w/ some GDIs in there, too. Coming from a small town I was a little intimidated w/ starting my Big University Experience, but my older brother told me it'd be fun and that living in a dorm my freshman year would be a good experience b/c I'd meet people who I'd know for the next four years, whether they were in my fraternity, another one or GDI, and he was right.

It wasn't nice but my god it was fun. Best feature was the front entrance and stairwell, which didn't take you past the security desk downstairs, making ingress and egress for females pretty easy whether before or after conjugal visit hours.

Favorite memory: one day a buddy of mine and I were driving back to Sessums on a beautiful spring day. As we drove in front of it, where the flagpole was, we both stopped talking at the same time and did a double take at the flagpole. Somebody had taken down the US flag and replaced it with a plain white bed sheet that said in black, spray-painted lettering, "WE [heart symbol] PU**Y" beautifully waving in broad daylight. Stayed there about an hour before UPD came and took it down.

I spent four semesters in Duggar. Fall '96, Spring-Fall '97 all on the 1st floor toward the middle, next door to the RA that didn't care. Spring '99 on the 2nd floor with a dipshit roommate who liked to leave the door unlocked when he left (and nevermind my computer, guitars, guitar amp, etc). He also suffered from a serious Jim Carrey/Ace Ventura fixation, and thought Rammstein was the most badass music ever. He was premed, and I hope he failed out of school rather than someone have to fall under his care.

Hightower, 1962-63, 2nd floor south wing.

We still had some "Refugees"/survivors from Old Main on the hall.
Great stories!

Hathorn - 3rd floor - 2001 (year before renovation)

It was the last year before renovation. No repairs were being made to anything. If something broke (a toilet, a shower, a stove, etc.) - they just placed a black garbage back over it. A lot of stuff broke. The AC was horrible, so my roommate rigged up a box fan over our vent, and when on turned on high we pretty much sucked all the cold air into our room. We were doubling up on blankets while everyone else was sweating balls. Survival of the fittest.

We also chiseled a hole for our window out of the bricks. I'm not sure why the others didnt fall, but we were the only ones with unobstructed views. We took advantage by buying apple sauce containers to sling out the window at dudes kissing their dates while getting dropped off at the back door. Man - it was filthy. Hathorn was the most fun I'd never want to repeat.

Sessums, 4th floor 94. Some ******* kept shitting in the water fountain. And some other ******* played Magic the gathering all the time. At the bottom of the stairways there was a ramp like mid section. During finals on the the guys in the dorm dropped a cinder block from the top floor and it shot down that ramp and blew out a plexiglass door.
