Of the 10, only 3 won titles. So, being dominant (per KenPom) isn’t a guarantee for winning it all. Not sure where our ‘91 or ‘92 team would rank, tho I think ‘92 would be up there with the best.Interesting! More than half of those teams lost in the National Championship Game, including Gonzaga this year. Perhaps a bit quick with my calculation. UNC 1998 lost in the semifinals
That does really go to show how difficult it is to win a championship in a single elimination format.
That 99 team would probably be number one if you took away the last game. Oh man they already are number one.
Too bad we didn't constantly feed Elton Brand the ball in that championship game and figure out more ways to get him the basketball. And Avery should have taken half the shots he did. Brand was our best player and he took 8 shots. Avery 12. Langdon 15 (more understandable but still too many relative to Brand). SMH. I really think we'd have won that if we fed Brand more and gave him 15 shots or so.
Battier and Carrawell missed two uncontested layups in that game as wellToo bad we didn't constantly feed Elton Brand the ball in that championship game and figure out more ways to get him the basketball.
