Sad that the “high school transfer portal” is a real and official thing now. Read the story from the Richmond Times Dispatch and it's a tracker now for transfers.

Also

No hate but when is Varina going to be held accountable for messing up these kids’ eligibility? Last year Darren Williams missed out on his senior year, this year Zion Boisseau will miss out on his senior season. We have a lot of adults failing these kids.

Just seems like every offseason all the best kids will some how find a way to Varina. VHSL allows it so I doubt there will be any punishment
It happens in each Division. It's ridiculous. The VHSL has no spine. It is on the school systems to police themselves and guess what, they don't. The only time anybody gets punished is when a citizen films somebody driving each day from outside of the attendance zone to school, or something along those lines and turns it in to the VHSL. There is no integrity. Some of the schools will actually verify addresses and that a proper move was made when kids transfer. Others will try to bend the rules. I would love to see every school that breaks the rules get punished so this crap doesn't keep happening.

When I was at Smith 08-12 , a lot of their impact players were transfers. So it’s gone on for decades. That’s why Maury got good out of nowhere.

Man things have changed. When I played in high school 79-82 in the 804 if we had a transfer it was usually military family moving in or someone's job moved them into town. The only way to some what slow the transfer situation down is have transfers sit out for 6 months after transferring with some stipulations included before they can play. I thought the VHSL has policies that included that anyway but maybe not.

Messing up these kids' eligibility? He wanted to come, you have to move in the area, they came and checked, he wasn't there... How do you blame Varina for him wanting to come there and/or not being prepared for the stipulations that come with that move. Supposedly the kid from Dinwiddie had been at Varina since January, enrolled and taking classes. I'm glad you took down that post about Coach Lewis, by the far the humblest, and respectful coaches I've ever encountered. I can guarantee he's not actively "looking" for guys as their feeder schools, and JV program are solid. It's not needed. Highland Springs had a bunch of transfers during their title runs (are we knocking Coach Johnson's legacy?); it's part of the new age of football. Get down or lay down.

One big issue is there is a loud contingent of coaches who basically are saying let the kids do what they want so they don't look like the bad guy.

Nobody wants to be seen as "holding a kid back". So the rules don't matter when people are basically scared to enforce them because they want to be the "cool" coach or program.

That’s not accurate information. He didn’t go to Varina until after spring break.

I took the post down because it’s not worth getting into a pissing contest about people hating on their program. I believe the truth always reveal itself before anything else and I don’t hold any stake in the fight expect I hate to see kids get failed by adults. Varina’s had at least 4 big time athletes ruled ineligible from their transfer in the past 4 years (Steven Stinson, Cameron Mise, Darren Williams, and Boisseau). Those are all First Team Metro and All State players in a 4 year time frame.

I know Marcus and a lot of his staff (it’s 30 of them so I can’t group them all together) but it’s a lot of self promotion from and youth league shenanigans. A harsh reality is that kind of culture gets you into situations like this. If you know the block is hot, you’re not taking any chances.

The VHSL allows it to continue regardless of which school it is. It’s a shame but no one cares but the fans. At the end of the day the rich get richer and a the poor get poorer. Unless Huguenot can match physicality this year Varina will run through D4 again and next year they will restock the pantry with more transfers as will other programs. It’s just what’s going on in today’s game no loyalty

Boisseau is good to go to play for Varina. VHSL ruled in his favor yesterday. Great for him. I’m never for holding a kid back. He’s a great young man and his father has my respect.

The point was he committed to being a student at Varina, prior to ever playing football which shows intent to be a part of the student body. Semantics to say January vs April but proves my point. Zion's going to be just fine, just wait and watch 👀.

I'm a 757 guy so I couldn't care less, Phoebus got 1 up on Varina in my stat book:ROFLMAO: But Coach Lewis for sure aint a "pound my chest" type of dude, them other guys, well they're the "backpack" coaches so yes, they are going to beat they chest...

Respect to you but we can agree to disagree on him being all about self and self promotion. Check his “getting to know Marcus Lewis” episodes out. Grown man btw….

They have some great players at Varina and the bulk of the guys who won the state championship last year were Varina kids. Won’t ever hear me hating.

Last post. Let the real men decipher what’s about self and what’s really about the kids.
“Exclusive pregame experience”?? Peep the “This is Who I Am” episodes on Instagram. Man these guys think they’re celebrities. Is it really about the kids or is about the kids that get offers and make them look good? Real men can dissect.

Highland Springs had a similar vlog each week when Rabbit, and those guys were there, I believe Capturing Reality Photography was who covered them on YT. It's how "social media"/exposure works now a days, frankly. You see all those guys in the Endzone with cameras, they too are trying to make a name and cover the teams/coaches people want to see. I haven't watched any of those "episodes" you mentioned. "Real men" aren't analyzing what other men are doing on social media platforms with anonymous usernames. Agree and disagree!

When the subject arises about messing a child’s future up, I’m 100% analyzing what the adults in the situation are doing. Guess only the real men know that accountability is important though.

They should hire you in Charlottesville as a compliance officer or you should get into coaching a program. Your real man resume is stellar, almost top notch. That's why you in the stands watching games with feminine, passive aggressive subliminal's lol. It's always the real ones with the b***h tendencies, go figure. To circle back around, Marcus Lewis is by far one of the humblest coaches I've encountered, and I've been in the presence of many. Like "real men" we're all flawed but his approach seemed genuine to me.

I understand where both sides are coming from no need to get disrespectful. With big time programs you rarely see the type of things Varina does but they’ve always been that way talk first play after. They’re not going to change their ways. It’s just starting to get more boisterous because of the transfers. But when you’ve been able to get away with it an have no real consequences why not continue? They aren’t the first team in the state that’s built a foundation on getting the best players from other schools. It’s sad to say but this era of High School football has become about who can recruit the best to win not who can coach the best. I think that era ended around 2017-2018. It’s the new norm, it’s either GET WITH IT OR FALL BEHIND, QUICK!!
