Despite multiple reports he left the team.

Strange..but good news, nonetheless.

If he is expected to return after handling "personal reasons" why is it strange?

If he's expected to return, then there's no reason to be alarmed, is there? If someone has a family member with a crisis, they're probably not going to just go out and tell us.

Thread title is fixed. Sorry for confusion. Let's wait for more info before we determine if we should be alarmed.

Dunleavy has deleted thecrweet, and now says he jumped the gun and there's no news to report.

Again, very strange situation. Let's see what it's about.

Clayton was the starter going into summer camp. If he lost his spot, that is on him.
pretty funny post, since there is zero LB talent on team, first timers attempting to play linebacker in B10..cant just say ,"oh well thats on Clayton" when there are no backups..also Hicks, suddenly he should play defense?? Though..Flood did same..

Flood made a bold move by flipping Hicks to the defensive side of the ball. But after the sophomore’s performance, it’s clear Flood pushed just the right button.

Hicks was all over the field on defense, collecting six tackles, recovering a fumble and making a pivotal interception to end a scoring threat from Army midway through the fourth quarter.

The fourth-year head coach said after the game that he and Hicks had discussed the position change early in the week. Ultimately it paid off.

“It’s something Josh (Hicks) and I spoke about earlier in the year, but I didn’t think the timing was right,” Flood said. “I approached the thought again with him as we were getting ready for this game and looking at who would be available.”

Clayton was not quick enough at DB....had tight hips...he was highly thought of by Ash and would have been starting again since Jones went down...I'm not going to knock Clayton but life is unfair many times ...he chose the "personal "reason excuse...wish him well at his next destination in Pennsylvania.

With our luck one of our backs will miss time and Hicks will be shuffled back to RB. If you move him at least commit to keeping him there so he has a chance to learn the position and succeed. I would like to see Bailey come back to the WR group and remain there as well.

What is the next destination in Pennsylvania?

Ash totally dropped the ball on this one.
No, Najee Clayton abandoned the team ...Clayton took flight instead of choosing to fight for his spot...Ash is not going to pamper these players...no player is greater than the sum ...could have been a very good LB er.

Hicks is the potential home run hitter of the two. (him and Martin). He should have WAY more carries.
He's a homerun hitter IF our O-line blocks properly...all the backs have been ineffective the past two weeks.

All things considered, Martin and Goodwin have been pretty good backs this year. LOL at calling Clayton a huge miss.

All the original tweets were deleted. So he's not leaving for personal reasons? He's ok? He's not happy, he's happy. It's all conjecture at this point right?

There are some comments on nj.com from somebody purportedly close to Hicks which suggest that he is not happy.

Clearly he's not happy.Hester is still injuried, there is no safety backup on one side,Hicks played there in Army game,so he was switched.keep in mind these are all most all Flood recruits minus a couple,so this is a transition year in many aspects.Turay is another non happy camper,a couple others on offense, but to be expected with new staff I guess.
