I know absolutely nothing about Hickory other than they have pretty good in the past. Do they run, pass or mix it up? How is their defense against the run? Judging strictly from RPI I expect South Point to win but expectations don’t win ballgames.

They are a pass heavy team without much of a running game. Just from what I’ve seen from them defensively, your raiders should control this game and come away with a win.

Thank you sir. Pass defense has always been a weakness for SP. Although they are better at it this year than they have been in the past.

No problem and I agree, I think the defense overall is much improved.

They have a good coach in Joe Glass that has turned this program around. Their starting QB was lost to a broken collarbone and playing with their starter from last season Turner Wood who is a good passer. They have a huge fullback in Isaiah Lackey who tough to bring down down. Their star is UNC commit Rico Walker on defensive end. They are more healthy than they been. They are well coached but I believe South Point will roll on them by least by 21.

I'm going with the upset South 21 Hickory 26 ; Hickory is well coach , They have pieces there to make plays and I believe they prob one of the better Hickory team they have had in a while. Defensively it's really depends on how well they can stop the run but if they play smart discipline football and read the gaps and all vs SP run game they have a shot. Hickory some good speed n athletic player so I think that could help them

I’m actually starting to have mixed feelings about this game after watching more of hickory.

Hickory is not a bad team at all. Offensively their passing game will give SP problems. SP secondary isn't as athletic as East Lincoln nor Statesville. If Hickory goes to the air they will score.

Defensively they got to get out that 3-4 set. Too many holes in the A and B gaps exposed. If they go to a 5-2, I could see this being a game. Key is stopping the Redbone and testing SP secondary

I see a 21-24 type game here

The SP secondary is light years ahead of where they have been in previous years. Did Hickory play any triple option teams this year? Prepping for SP when you haven’t seen them is tough because of the adjustments SP makes in their offensive scheme.

Hickory played North Lincoln, South Caldwell and Alexander Central. All 3 runs different variations of the triple option

I believe Hickory lost to 2 of those 3 teams. South Point is light years better than those 3. The Red Raiders move on to round 2

Maxpreps had them getting beat 35-28 on both schools schedule. Of course we all know how trustworthy maxpreps can be. 😨
Yeah they beat North Lincoln. Only losses are Alexander Central, East Lincoln and Statesville.

On a separate note. That Qb and FB yall had in 02-03. What ever happen with them. I think yall have a hard hitting Saftey too. Those guys were MON-STARS

I know hickory ussually has some athletes, SP pass defense is much improved from years past. I like sp in this one but if hickory can keep it tight into the 4th I could see an upset.

Mr. Lincolnton is posting on the 2a board...he is good.
Wolf is Mr Lincolnton alright. I haven’t seen him on here in a while. I miss his kind way of correcting bad behavior. He’s some more man and fan.

Thanks fellers. I'm good. Thank you for saying something. SPRaiders78 I been thinking about you and praying for you. All the best to your teams.

This is easily the best overall group of DBs to come through SP in a long while. Safety has verbal commitment to Wake Forest.

SP very rarely lose because of the pass. The kids are coached to not give up the long ball so the underneath hitches and curls are there all night which drives us fans crazy but it’s the scheme.

5 (the safety) and 9 (corner on his side) are good. If they are smart they will throw at the other two. I’m just going off of what I’ve seen.

Funny, and off topic...but the Hells Angels MC calls themselves "Big Red" as well...I want to make clear that I'm cheering for South Point, not the Angels

We need a big dose of revenge next week. Last year Dudley knocked the starting qb out on SP’s first possession. Not that it would have made much difference. South Point is better this year, especially offensively. If SP can run successfully next week, it could be an interesting game. GO BIG RED!
