We are here?
Reminds me of The Borg from Star Trek lore.

Personally respect the heck out of Shelby football history. You know how much that means on Friday nights? Nothing, nada, zilch.
Teenagers don’t know about the “history” of so and so high. They just know at the end of the night what the scoreboard says.
Will Eastern Randolph succeed Friday? It will be a tall task and everything will have to go their way. If they don’t. Yeah they will be upset but only ones that will remember it in a year or so are old folks on message boards. And booster clubs.

We are here…
Wow
😂😂😂

You know this already, but we will explain again for newcomers.
We choose to post as a group as info, opinions, and responses are from multiple contributors here as to what we say. Shelby High, and especially Shelby High football, runs 5 generations deep for us.
It’s easier to post under one name.
Is that so hard to understand?

So football history means nothing?
Maybe in Eastern Randolph.
But I doubt that.
If your ER boys manage to take down the Golden Lions Friday night, you will witness the Super Bowl level celebration seen by every fan base that defeats Shelby.
And they will remember that game for the rest of their lives.
Ask your coaches and players what their reaction was when they first saw the playoff brackets and immediately found where Shelby was in their future if they both got that far. It matters.
And you get us at your place. Special.

You can choose to diminish, which is your style.
But we suggest you get a little closer to your program.
It would be good for you.

Humbly? There are some posters who epitomize humility…Lincolnton, kidd, Sportsnut. But don‘t think that descriptor can be applied here.

Why are we not surprised that you show up to fire cheap shots at us?
You are a bitter Thomasville has been homer who takes it upon himself to run and defend your little brother neighbor Eastern Randolph, all to engage us.
So tell us, who set you up as the judgmental leader of “ humble posters”?
You have no idea as to the sincerity and proof of our group as it relates to Christian community service, charity, mentoring, and true fellowship with all.
We thank God for all our blessings and pray we are worthy of them.
Football is a small part of that, but an important part. We take nothing for granted.

Seriously yall just copying TNG…
Picard would be impressed…
Minimalist?
My wife claims I keep too much stuff. Might need a part one day..
As far as the program is concerned, the collective has no idea about the extent of my personal involvement with the program…
On a side note, who says things like that? Reminds me of the booster in the movie Blue Chips. Nick Nolte was good and Shaq did ok as well. At least you could understand the words coming out of his mouth…
But I digress…
You/yall missed the whole point of my post, not out of character/characters I might add. I stated that adults are often more invested in the success of said sports teams than the actual participants. Sadly, truth be told, they often feel those hanging on to their glory days are well special…
Not saying supporters of “the program” do not serve a purpose. Football obviously helps pay for most of the other sports at every high school. Without fans, officials, cheerleaders and bands would be just a bunch of athletes running around at PE…
Good luck to your teenagers Friday night. Hopefully it’s a good contest and all come through healthy.

We choose…
😂😂😂😂

Has been? Well, heck yeah! Probably couldn’t walk a forty without pulling a hamstring. And old enough to have played in that ‘68 game against your Lions. You guys took us to the woodshed, and that’s when I began to respect the Shelby program. If you could scroll back a few years, you would see several posts where I have defended Shelby as one of several stellar programs. Reidsville, Mount Airy, Robbinsville, Tarboro and more. And no, the fact that Reidsville had a few legislators declare something doesn’t mean it’s true. And that, yes, all your championships count, including those in the WNCHSAA.
Homer? As with most posters, guilty. Though it’s getting harder. Have no reason to doubt your group’s contributions to the program. We could use some of that in the Chair City. But that ship has probably sailed.
Bitter? Nah. Disgusted at where my alma mater school system finds itself? Absolutely. But the joy I find in my three year old grandson and one week old granddaughter make bitter next to impossible.
Defender of Eastern Randolph? They don’t need my defense. Except for my respect for one of their posters, my only connection to their program is that I was a spectator when they whipped my Bulldogs in the ‘83 state championship game. That one cemented my opinion that championship games should be played at large, neutral sites. I respect ER as well.
As far as how you post, you do you. Not sure how that works. Group chat where you fine tune each others’ wordsmithing? Take turns? Oh well. De nada.
Judgmental? Yeah, probably need to work on that. But do you think that maybe, just maybe, your posts, including this one, may also reflect that character fault?
Best of luck to your kids on Friday. Two fine programs and should be a great game.

Don’t apologize. Sadly I know that on Star Trek: The Next Generation there was an entity known as The Borg that assimilated the technology from the civilizations they encountered from their travels throughout various galaxies..
The queen of said Borg, for some reason they took human forms, took an interest in assimilating Jean Luc Picard, the captain of the Enterprise. The collective of the Borg had one mind, one consciousness if you will, and spoke as such. We will, we are, we choose…
Resistance is futile…
Ok I feel I have used up my nerdiness quotient for the day. I’m gonna go clean a deer now so I can feel better about myself 😂😂😂😂

Well, OC, like the two brothers and a son you apparently never read the proclamation approved by the State Legislature naming Reidsville The Football Capital of North Carolina. That claim is based on the FACT that Reidsville has won more State Championships than any other school in the state. And no matter how many times the threesome spews forth otherwise and insults other posters that is a true claim that cannot be disputed. Wear your best warm clothes Friday night.

We told you we are in his head.

It is a bogus claim and doesn’t hold up to 3 minutes of scrutiny.
The most glaring omission is that for 31 consecutive RECENT YEARS, from 1971 to 2001, Reidsville NEVER EVEN APPEARED IN A CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE GAME!
How do they claim to be the Capitol ( sic ) of anything. That’s how they incorrectly spell it.
We could stop right there.
That absence is a major disqualifier. Yet they will duck that one.
Another is that, to this day, and certainly when they self promoted themselves to their proclamation, most of their titles came during the dinosaur period, before facemasks, and more importantly, before integration. And they played in the small division B of the NCHSAA, thereby avoiding up to 42 of the best similar sized programs in the state playing in the rival WNCHSAA.
Princeton is on the record as having won the most College Football National Championships.
Reidsville can call themselves “ The Princeton of North Carolina high school football”. That would be more historically accurate.
After subclasses were created ( an important note ), Reidsville returned and
won two titles in 02 and 03.
Seizing that opportunity, Reidsville locals created a book “The Capitol of NC High School Football”.
Seriously. Just 2 years after a 31 consecutive year absence from even appearing in a title game.
But they wanted more. They wanted to take it to Raleigh.
But a funny thing happened on the way.
Reidsville lost to Shelby in 2005, 26-18 in the Title Game.
Reidsville faithful, keenly aware that Shelby had dominated high school football during their absence held off.
Shelby won again in 2006.
But guess what happened IMMEDIATELY after Reidsville defeated Shelby 28-20 in the 2007 title game.
They marched down to Raleigh with THEIR OWN STATE REPRESENTATIVE and submitted the book and the misleading Championship history to an otherwise busy and disinterested State Legislature for the proclamation.
It’s a joke.

In the modern era of football since integration, and since ALL public high schools in North Carolina joined under ONE GOVERNING BODY, Shelby has won the most Championship State Titles.
Subclassifications have allowed Reidsville to win 3 titles opposite Shelby in 2A-2AA when clearly Shelby was the more exceptional team.
Head to head, Shelby is up 4-2, with 2 wins on Reidsville’s field.
Shelby is # 1 in all-time wins in NC.
We could go on.

We do not claim Shelby should be named “The Capital”.
That is for others to objective decide.
For now, we stand on definition and historical fact, not opinion, that ;

The Golden Lions of Shelby High School are the most successful, sustained, winningest football program in North Carolina.

Wow…
With just a smidgeon of a prod this thread done went off the proverbial rails ain’t it?
Not since Fonzi donned his iconic leather jacket and jumped that shark have we witnessed such.
Would like to thank both the Hatfields and McCoys for participating. Soon we shall return to our regularly scheduled broadcast…

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

You’re right, Mule. Never read it, though I’d like to. I’ve found that the legislature says a lot, but these days I disagree with the vast majority of it. You would know better than most that the top two or three men in each chamber control the narrative for all of them.
Three men in 1983 froze the school district lines in my town forever. That has contributed mightily to the downward spiral of our district. And not athletically. So forgive me if I place little stock in their utterances.
Shelby and Reidsville have a lot to be proud of in high school athletics. It just bugs me when people don’t recognize that there are more than a handful in that sphere and that no one can claim superiority over all the rest.
I plan to dress very warmly for App State’s game Saturday, but will be in front of the fireplace on Friday night.
Good luck to all those left standing.

As a matter of fact...all you have to do is admit that it's self proclaimed and that you all did it hush hush because you knew if a debate was to happen, you would lose. But time will tell. We know about frozen school district lines. Parts of the Rockingham County School district lies within the Reidsville City Limits. Obviously that hasn't affected Rams football very much but it has major implications for baseball and other sports. A friend was coach and AD at Thomasville for a while so I know a little about your situation. It has really put a heavy yoke around the Thomasville football program but I doubt there is any solution available.

Only two solutions, both bleak. Another local bill through the legislature to make the school district and city limits lines contiguous. Or a merger with Davidson County schools, accompanied by redistricting. Both political suicide for elected officials. So, effectively no available solution.

Them boys ain’t got a clue sir. That’s ok. Bet very few of the participants on this here thread even know what a tarsal gland is much less know to avoid nicking it when attempting to hang one on a single tree..
It’s ok though. When the big one drops and they are hungry us Neanderthals will rule!
Twas a middle aged 9 point that made the critical mistake of following his nose. About 7:40 give or take 😀

Sad story but funny, once upon a time ago in a far away land, when me and some friends were learning how to field dress we had a rabbit and were gonna try to prep it but didn't do our due diligence as the rabbit had pooped itself(inside) so most of the meat was messed up. I was really messed up about it becuase we were pretty humane. Another "error" was one friends arrow was sooooo cheap it bounced off the rabbit the first time he shot at it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Hug your babies, if they are at home. Watch a little football. Eat too much. Sleep in recliner. Then watch some more football…

Ok got to admit I’m in a tree with service looking for a big one but yall get the gist..
Duke basketball at 8 o'clock lol. Happy Thanksgiving and hope your team plays well tomorrow. Weather may benefit ER

Yeah I eat nothing but venison from about October to March 😂 love it ..nothing better than a good rare cooked backstrap
my wife will fry it a little and put in in the crock pot in a brown gravy till it will come apart with a fork. You can put this over mashed potatoes put it over rice and it’s just out of this world. Plus it get better every time you heat it up!!
