Herro Heat Workout

I have watched two clips of Herro shooting in NBA workouts. Heat and Celtics workout. He isn't getting the lift in his workout 3s like he did in games. I have a feeling his workout jumpshot has less lift because your legs get really tired quick... he is conserving energy and has less movement which is resulting in more accuracy. And.. no defense :)

Drew Hanlen, who is an NBA trainer has said that you want your workout percentage to be 80%. Means you should shoot 40% in games with reasonable shot selection. He trained Jayson Tatum before his rookie season and kept workout stats - Tatum was shooting 82% in his workout 3s and he ended up shooting over 40% in the NBA (something he didnt do in college)

I played baseball in college with a dude that hit it out of the park consistently in practice.....and struck out every game.....he didn't play after 1 month. and kept hitting home runs in practice.

I bet Ray Allen could still do that if he wasn't racing against a clock. The muscle memory for NBA guys is insane.

Riley said he made 25 straight threes at one point in the workout drill which apparently Ray Allen can barely do. Blows my mind how he didn't shoot a higher % at UK.
If you see me hit balls on the range you think (people tell me this a lot) that I'm a five handicap or less. See me playing a round of golf and that handicap doubles to about a 10 or 11. Harder to do these things when the score really means something.

In time, Herro can be a very good shooter in games. You'd think with his perfect form and ability to elevate above defenders that he'll be like Booker in a year or two and they will regularly start falling in games. He's going to be a terrific player and I don't know anyone who plays for the Heat except for Bam, but it appears to be a great scenario for Tyler.

People forget how much Herro improved as a shooter over the course of the season...imagine, a Freshman doing that!

He shot 42% from three in SEC play, well above his non conference numbers. I predict he'll make his mark as a gunslinger three point specialist well into his early 30's.

A bit off topic but baseball was my first love. Started little league at 8. I caught the first ball ever lobbed at me. With my face lol. Was a good singles hitting SS in HS though until the program was killed after my sophomore year due to the lack of a home field. It’s a wonderful game. And it’s ours.

The pressure and intensity of the games in tourney play is an adjustment. That’s why I think tourney experience is important for a run and why so many of our freshman guards have underperformed in March. Herro, Booker and Murray all shot so poorly. And even monk who managed to hit 9 3’s in his 4 games still only shot 34%. Well below his +40% season average.

That what makes that 2014 run so fascinating. I would say those guys made up for inexperience with physical dominance, but UL, Michigan and Wisconsin all had decent size.

The Harrison twins story here is pretty remarkable. They deserve to have their jerseys retired eventually imo.

Just as crappy

Best of luck to herro and I look forward to summer league, but damn why can’t our shooters get red hot in the tournament.
Might help to set some multiple solid screens for them and get them the ball at the right time. This comes with maturity which freshmen don't have much of.

Ray Allen can barely do that? I bet in his prime he’d make 25 out of 25 almost every time in a workout.
Yeah, I don't get the "RA can barely do that" comment.

Are we talking about pullups and push-ups? I thought this was about hitting threes?
