Hagans AAU coach called into Kentucky Roll Call yesterday and said the reason Hagans didnt test the waters is because through Cal and that AAU coach.... they already got the info they needed from the NBA. there was no need to test the waters any further.
shhhhhhh

I built a fairly sophisticated model that had the odds going into the tournament approximately Gonzaga - 17%, UVA - 12%, Duke - 10%, UNC - 10%, MSU - 6%, UK - 6%. That’s from memory so not exact, but it was pretty close.

Would love to see us back on that one seed line, as that strongly influences our odds of winning it all. No doubt getting Herro, KJ, or both back would have a big impact on our odds.
Let's just get them all back. That could improve our chances.

You’re welcome.I’m a realist. Get your head out of thesand. Herro is the type of player we have to start getting back if you want to start making Final Fours consistently again. By his announcement, I assume he’s gone. He’ll be a first round pick and I think that’s high enough for him.
Way too serious. :sunglasses:

I was expecting this since after the Bahama’s trip. He deserves the opportunity to catch his dream, and if that means returning for another season, well it’s on!

unintended irony in this post is just perfect. no, they never were.

We will have to disagree. Personally, I listed them among the legitimate title contenders in February, and they made it to OT in the Title game. So they were a contender in my book.

Edit: Actually it was March 3rd when I listed Texas Tech as a “legitimate contender.” Some others were on them before I was. Their offense was so bad early that it was hard for me to believe in them.

Definitely. I was paying attention to TT in early February. I saw that they were legit.

No surprise. I think he’s gone. I’m sorry I don’t remember the poster, but I believe I saw a post here in the last few weeks that Cal hasn’t had a single player at UK projected in the 1st round come back. Regardless of where, everyone is projecting Herro and KJ in the 1st round. I’m just glad Hagans is coming back.

Two years in a row, Cal has recruited a 4 star he planned to have 2-3 years, that developed much faster than expected. Might have to look at a 3 star.

wow, 6 pages.

KJ is probably the bigger piece here. If he came back, should be in for a super exciting season.

Herro said that if wasn't a high pick he is coming back. Yet some on here say he is gone for sure. Without knowing how all the teams feel about all available players and not knowing how many foreign players will be drafted high that hardly anybody knows about, why would anybody say he is gone for sure? A lot of people have been around long enough to know that a lot of players drop a lot that are told they will go higher. Will depend on his workouts. Will they have very tough defenders locking him up and have him guarding very good offensive players in the workouts? Will he all the sudden learn how to play against aggressive defenders and learn how to stay in front of quicker players on defense? Just a lot of variables to happen. He could be a development league journey man and a foreign team player if he isn't picked high enough by the right team. How many times have we seen a guy get drafted and traded immediately even after the team that drafted him led them on how they wanted them?

What I meant by unintended irony I will apologize for: cynical reference to screw job in championship game.

My daughter showed me Herro’s Instagram story from tonight. He was walking into a party. He was wearing a $500 Gucci belt and a pair of $600 Gucci shoes. He is gone.
This isn’t anything new. Briscoe was doing the same thing. Hell, Herro has been taking pics of him in front of a Mercedes G-class all year. I’m not saying that UK is out giving money and stuff, but they’re definitely getting money from somewhere. Fox was wearing a 1000$ designer glasses when he was here. There’s money coming from somewhere.

They get a stipend and I’d say Herro gets his from his parents since they didn’t have to pay for their education and Herro drives a Malibu it was in a article I read on how he was treated after picking UK!

Amazingly the kid probably doesn’t know anything about life except how to shoot a basketball. Who in their right mind would wear something that holds up your pants that costs 600$? Obviously he’s young and has a golden ticket but I’d like to think that if i traded places with him, I’d be a little more humble. Maybe I wouldn’t but I would hope so.

The new stipends are supposed to close the gap between scholarship money and what it actually costs to attend school. The stipends, available at most of the country major sports programs, range from about $2,000 to $5,000 a year, although some schools are reportedly offering a few thousand more than that.

I think it’s obvious Herro is gone. Players can sign with agents for advice and to set up work outs and meetings. Teams pay for travel expenses. If that is all the player gets, they are eligible to return to school if they want.

If the player is all in, the agent can give a money advance. If Herro is just now wearing Gucci belts and Gucci shoes, he definitely got a money advance.

That’s peanuts compared to the $30,000 cash Thomas of Duke gave for his jewelry on top of the $70,000 loan that no other college student could get.
