Hernando de Soto Bridge Revisited (Video)

I know it was over a month ago and I don't recall why that thread got locked. But, this just came across my YouTube feed and I thought it was worth sharing. I got a little lost in that thread, for I am no engineer. This put it in more layman's terms for my dubmass. Is the bridge still closed?

I watched that video earlier in the week and he is spot on about the bridge design. I think he is on the right track about the introduction of the vertical load from the cable ties causing the fatigue failure of the member.


Yes the bridge is still closed and they are working on a repair right now. I figure it will remain closed for at least another month or two. Here Is a video from TNdot on the fix.
