i have to hesitantly agree with the dude that was saying that we are going to have a hard time out-scoring them. when they listed the number of starts, tackles, and PD for our guys not named cox, its a little concerning. if whitley is not back to his sophmore self, we are in trouble and even more so if we cant find a way to get more pressure. lets hope collins is gameplanning like his life depends on it.

From a Rebel I hope y'all crush them!! You may not have a tremendous amount of starters coming back but youth isn't always a bad thing! Watching the younger players on both our teams have a good impact is exciting to me and you never really can tell how any of these young guys will pan out until game time!

I don't feel confident about this game at all. We will need a consistent rushing attack to control the game and clock. And a few turnovers.

OK State only returns like 1 or 2 more starters than we do.

Good to know we have no NFL guys now, which is weird after we've had about ten in the last 4 years.
12(drafted) in the past 4 -- but who is counting**

The inexperience thing is overplayed(everywhere other than WR). People just look at "starting" experience because it's more easily available and make assumptions for us based on that -- instead of looking at total snaps played, which matters immeasurably more than the "starting" terminology. They do invariably different with the elite teams -- simply by assuming they reload NO MATTER what they lose. It's an interesting double-standard from a statistical perspective(how I always approach this stuff)...

We return about 30% of our total snaps from the CB position, 55% from the SS position, 100% from the FS position, 71% from the LB position, and 67% from the DL position... on the "inexperienced" defense...

On offense, we return 100% of snaps at QB, 100% of snaps at RB, 100% of snaps on the OL, and only about 20.5% of our total snaps at WR/TE...

You read that right -- Calhoun/Love played 1/3 of the overall snaps last year at the CB position for us -- and no one really realized it at the time(which is a good thing). People look at Slay and Banks going early and assume it will be a huge dropoff without peeling the next layer back. Not saying it won't be a dropoff -- but it won't be as drastic as 95% of talking heads would have you believe...

J-Dawg I realize that my point was really that I like your young guys better than their young guys. I really think y'all will beat them and a big part of why y'all will is your new guys.

Zero offensive NFL prospects? Gabe Jackson is a sure thing to get drafted at least in the top 3 rounds. Tyler Russell and Perkins are prospects too.

And that's just in this year's draft. We've got a few other young players who will be prospects in the future. What an ignorant *******.

Saw the

"The SEC is only 3-4 good teams11!!1" argument...nice to see that's still being perpetuated.

this is what i am hoping to really see out on the field. i felt like we have been slowly moving away from what i remember our defensive personality being. we used to knock the absolute dog **** out of teams even with our bad teams and at the end of games, i always felt like the opposing team knew they had played a physical game because they had the bruises and headache to remind them. last season especially, i felt like we had lost our defensive soul. its going to make it hard with all the hit rules they have now, but i wanna see some fools paying the price out there and hear some pads pop again.

I know it's being pushed by only one poster, but if their season depends on blowing us out, they're in for a long season.

Here's a list of their draft picks. They have about 5 draft worth players, at the moment (2014 and 2015). Looks like they are the strongest in the secondary.

Nobody denies that they have a potent offense. But how much better is that offense than our defense? Better than our offense vs. their defense? Defense is only a rumor in OK.

They say that they'll be more prepared than State. They've forgotten that they have replaced two coordinators.

There is some gold in that thread

Looks like we have never seen an offense as potent as theirs.

and Rich Rod has Arizona on a higher level than we could achieve. I guess similar to Michigan with a more talented QB.

my coworkers son is playing OT for OSU this year

If anyone cares, here's what OSU fans think of State. Can't wait for this game. Go State http://www.orangepower.com/threads/miss-st-practice-and-scrimmage-reports-link.170246/

his remark to me the other day was "Your defensive linemen better be in great shape". Said the OC is trying to add 15+ snaps a game more than last years average for them. when the play is over, and the referee spots the ball and gets out of the way , they are quickly snapping for the next play. Collins better have us ready.....

That's cool.

I hope they are ready for SEC defensive linemen. I think our depth and talent is back to par this year.

I watched them play a lot of games last year since I live in Texas and I was not as impressed with them as they are with themselves. I thought their best team was a couple of years back. They are good, no doubt... but I don't get the slathering of preseason love they are getting from the press and their fans.

That would be news to uninitiated. Here's some news: first game of the season = cramps. Lots and lots of cramps.

If you ask me, it's a pretty even matchup. Upper echelon big 8(ish) versus lower echelon SEC. In other words, even.
