Frost never considered QB change against Purdue, but wants more consistent play from Martinez

“So, we just need to be a little bit more consistent.” per Scott Frost

Frost is not the coach we thought we were getting IMO...this kind of tells all about there is to tell.

What if we didn't have another available QB?

That's the real issue, it was Bunch if they switched QBs and we have seen him lose enough games to know he is no solution.

I will go to my grave believing Martinez tore up that right shoulder again. But if he's going to play through it, he needs to play well. Does nobody any favors to play hurt and suck.

...and if he's hurt physically, don't play him. All that will do is hurt him mentally. I think we've been seeing this for quite some time.

Stupid thread and you making yourself stupid for even posting this, let alone thinking of it as a topic to discuss.

The coaches know more than you. I saw some idiotic tatto artistic going ballistic on Twitter over this. Yeah, a guy that makes tattos for a living knows more than the coaches. Fricken idiots on the Internet.

Vedral was only going to play in an emergency and McCaffrey wasn't even suited up. You really want to play Bunch?

Here's the issue:

This is a bad football team. Everyone knows it. And even though he doesn't blatantly say it, he alluded to it today. Frost knows we are not good.

Agreed. It's a disservice to the suckitude of the rest of the team to continue this debate over Martinez. It's like arguing over which watertight door caused the Titanic to sink.

He would be in too much pain to throw if he tore the shoulder again.

I guess we will find out when we die though.

Has anyone come out and actually confirmed this? The reason I ask is that I know that Vedral practiced all week and took normal snaps.

Bunch is a better thrower than Vedral, but not as fast or decisive. Martinez still has the highest ceiling..floor probably also.

Another example of chaos.

Does he communicate with his team? He either doesn’t at all or does it in a manner that isn’t effective.

If you don’t want hoodies (ridiculous position) then ban them. Bad look when your team captain and head coach aren’t on the same page

It's either this or he has rules for everyone else and rules for Martinez. Either way is problematic.

that vid is funny.

not an excuse or whatever, I think he just used the hoodies thing as an example of being tough. not that he wants to ban them or has rules against them.

he's right, too. offensive linemen/defensive front 7 shouldn't wear sleeves no matter the weather. it's mentally soft.

It was, but Martinez still managed to look much better. Granted, they finally got it figured out by moving Farmer down to C (wtf were they thinking not having him there to begin with?!?!)
That's what I thought I spotted last yr. It took the coaches 6 games to figure out what they had for players and get them into the right positions. So I thought we'd have a headstart on this yr, but we are 9 games into 2019 and I still don't think they know who should play where. Frustrating.

Nobody has confirmed it but how do YOU know that Vedral took "normal snaps"? Because Frost or Walters said so? Remember the reports of a sweaty Martinez leaving practice several weeks ago. Practicing and taking shotgun snaps is a whole different story from actually playing at full speed. THIS is why I think it would be good for Frost to clarify a little bit the injury status of QBs. Martinez is clearly struggling with some sort of physical problem and it appears it may be more than his knee. Just come out and say "Adrian is dinged up but he's healthier than Noah right now". IF the rumor about Vedral isn't true, then IMO Frost needs to face tougher questions about why he didn't bring Vedral in the game. Loyalty is admirable. Blind loyalty is not.

1. Vedral has started two games...he has lead the offense to 19 ppg in those starts and hasn't finished either game because his aggressive running style has lead to injuries. He also cost us a 10-14 pt swing because he straight dropped the ball. Something AM has never done.

2. AM is leading the offense to 20 ppg in his last two starts. So apparently the offense is sitting in the same range of 19-20 ppg...close to 30 against bad defenses...around 10 against good defenses.

I don't think our issues have much to do with qb .

I think the issue on Sat was lack of options to replace him with. I could be hearing things, but I do think Frost is at least realizing Marinez may not be the QB he thought.
Frost went from saying things like, "He is one of the best QBs I have coached" "He is our guy" " Hes going to do special things here" Never hear even a tiny negativity from Frost on Martinez. N
To things like. "We will have to look at the film and evaluate where he is struggling" "He missed some things out there" " The other QBs are playing well enough to get us a win if needed"
If Martinez continues to struggle the first part of the Wisc game, I think he has to play a healthy Vedral if possible.

you looking in a mirror when you say that? Because you're on here blow-viating about it.
Almost two years in and this coaching staff has not proven it knows anything more than any of us do so far. By the way...this isn't twitter and I don't do tattoos.

Doesn't Martinez lead the country in fumbles? Add in his 6 ints. My guess is he lead the country in turnovers. That is with not playing in 2 games.
